Bees are a critical part of the food chain that feeds human beings.
The EPA, and the Trump administration in particular, has given the go ahead for chemical companies to once again produce previously banned bee-killing products.
Never mind that bee pollination activities provide about 80% of the world's agricultural products.
What that means is that most of the vegetables and fruits we eat, and the animals we eat that live on agriculture products, will be gone. So if bees are decimated, or totally eliminated, what are we going to eat?
Ain't politics wonderful? Believe it or not, a small portion of ignorant, uncaring, greedy people control everything. Absolutely everything. And now it seems that they even control the food chain. A food chain disruption, or perhaps even destruction, fucks, (and mostly kills), every living thing higher up on that chain. And we human beings are at the top of that chain.
So start your own garden, grow your own cows, pigs, hens, and get used to eating virtually anything available in order to survive.
On the other hand, you can invest in Soylent Green. Trust me on this. It's going to be a sure thing in the not-to-distant future. Bon appetit.
P.S. Willy Nelson, Oprah Winfrey, and many others, are bee keepers. If you have the space for it, consider doing just a bit to help humanity survive.

(25,183 posts)but I can imagine that there is a genetic solution to this problem. In many populations, plagues have wiped out the majority of the living members of a species, selecting for the individuals who had resistance to the specific malady, and they became the ancestors of future generations. The Black Plague in Europe was one such example.
I think with genetic modification and advanced breeding techniques this could save bees.

(15,071 posts)This isn't hyperbole, but if Trump wins/steals the 2020 election, we're over. And my guess is that bees will not be at the top of the list of what destroys humanity.

(50,318 posts)Pretty bad when you have to count on squash beetles to pollinate the zucchini. I'm going to do some reading about bee keeping. Maybe the absence of bees will create a whole new profession: hand pollinator. What a horrid thought.
