What they feel for women is contempt. Contempt is that feeling with which a person regards another who is considered petty, small or worthless; someone whom one views with disdain or scorn; someone who only has worth as it pertains or relates to or helps their maleness. Republicans "love their moms, sisters, daughters, wives, etc." as one loves a pet or an inferior being which he as the all powerful male must protect and care for, but never as an equal.

(11,619 posts)useful, sometimes, to watch the kids.
Useful, in the Jack Nicholson sense from The Witches of Eastwick, when he said, "Woman is a hole."
Or where he says "I think of a man and take away reason and accountability."
They are objects to be used.
What amazes me is that the Republican women don't realize that they are nothing but an object to the Republican Cocks of the Walk.

(110,159 posts)this garbage at every turn. that would be the liberal men, you know. the ones in media creating the very thing you point the finger at repugs about.
it is not a party issue. it is a man issue.
funny you would perfectly provide for me the intro to state how this is not a party issue.

(11,619 posts)but that is still different from hate, and it displays in a specific form with Republican men.

(24,766 posts)IMO, Republicans hate women as the human beings they are. Contempt doesn't go far enough.
A typical repuke male thinks women are merely appendages of their menfolk, with no hopes, dreams, or independent thoughts apart from the bidding of the patriarch. These same males have serious mother issues: their hatred and contempt for women are rooted in fear of their moms, disguised as devotion and respect. You're right in saying repuke men love their moms, sisters, daughters, wives, etc., as if the women in their lives were no better than their cats or dogs at best, and "innately defective men" at worst. In other words, repuke men only "love" the women they can control.
The contempt turns into hatred when the women in their lives get fed up with being playing the role of "good girls" who do as their told in exchange for being protected and revolt against dictatorial male power. Then the repuke guys end up turning on them. Repunk men especially hate powerful, independent women with dreams and aspirations of their own. Those are the women repuke men want to punish--with hardship, gender slurs, namecalling, and vile, false accusations a la Rush.

(14,731 posts)as I did them. Hatred seems so pervasive in our society and I think it comes often from ones inability to put her/himself in someone else's place in life. When we can see things through other's hardships, then we can be more complete as humans. I see these creepy republicans as the utmost flawed and harmful people.

(6,199 posts)i.e. the objects they own. The women who place themselves in positions where their humanity MUST be acknowledged- those ones they do hate. It's not just contempt. "Their" women get the contempt. We get the hatred.

(5,231 posts)I told him, straight up: "they (the GOP) want us with a status of pets. I'm not gonna f-in do that."
I went on, as I was taught by my parents: "if you alone protect and care for me, am I a woman or am I an infant?"
For the record, he truly does get it - always has. I was just venting, and he listened. But he liked how I put it. I am no infant. I lived alone for many years before marriage. I think those were some of the most enlightening years I'll ever have. I can do it again, and that makes all the difference.
On the plus side, he told me "remind me to never, ever really piss you off."

(9,269 posts)The Repugs I know hate Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi with a white-hot passion, even more than Obama.
I recall from the ads in the 2010 campaign the special contempt as the Democratic candidates were tied to "Nancy Pelosi's policies." The extreme vitriol reserved for an uppity woman.

(14,731 posts)strong and independent is hated as they hate males who are their enemies. As a group, they find women contemptible. IMO, of course.

(110,159 posts)like a child. pat on the head. make the decisions for.
but, i think that superiority goes well beyond the repug party. we see it on one side with repugs, religion. we see it on another side with liberals. i do not see it as a party issue. i see it as men getting their backs up with womans success and equality and having to find one way or another to shove women back in that damn box.

(14,731 posts)society. The Repugs, however, are the name brand group, whose contempt is undeniably revealed through their platform and their actions toward women. Honestly, how can any human think it is okay or even legal to pay a person less because she doesn't have a penis.

(14,731 posts)Here is one of many examples which disproves that idea: The Democrats pass legislation like the the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act of 2009 (Pub.L. 111-2, S. 181) which "is a federal statute in the United States that was signed into law by President Barack Obama on January 29, 2009. The Act amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 stating that the 180-day statute of limitations for filing an equal-pay lawsuit regarding pay discrimination resets with each new discriminatory paycheck. The law was a direct answer to the Ledbetter v. Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co., 550 U.S. 618 (2007), a U.S. Supreme Court decision holding that the statute of limitations for presenting an equal-pay lawsuit begins on the date that the employer makes the initial discriminatory wage decision, not at the date of the most recent paycheck, as a lower court had ruled.
A first bill to amend the statutory limitations period and supersede the Ledbetter decision was introduced in the 110th United States Congress but was never enacted, as after having been passed by the House it failed to survive a cloture vote in the Senate due to the opposition of most of the Republican Senators."

(110,159 posts)they are progressive. they are the party that will move along what we all need. this is beyond that. this is within culture and society as a whole. and conditioning creating entitlement and male privilege that harms all. it is the progressive that will battle that but, i feel, that today a lot of people are running away from that, reinforcing the conditioning of dominance and control for men. it is the dems or progressives or liberals, i feel, that will address this.
but, i think it is important to say, it is a male issue, societal issue (women have their part in playing into the conditioning which allows), not a party issue.
