General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI am watching MSNBC and they are as brain dead as the Trump voters are.
They are all talking about Mueller and how he looked. I don't care how many questions Mueller did not answer, Talk about the questions he did answer, talk about the facts that you just witnessed. Trump obstructed justice and he tampered with witnesses. Over the past 3 years the news media has enabled Trump and it continues today. They are like a cat chasing its own tail.
I do not understand why the news media cannot not say, there is overwhelming evidence Trump has committed high crimes and there must be impeachment hearings so the American people can learn the truth. It is like I am living with the walking dead.
Obstruction and witness tampering are serious crimes and the news media wants to talk about how Mueller acted. Fucking stupid.

We want to hear from the real leaders who are trying to save this country!
Why isn't Hillary Clinton or Eric Holder a guest on the show today?

(24,438 posts)that the NT's would WANT to see Trump gotten rid of. But then again, he's basically doing what they would be wanting any other Republican to do, so I guess they're still happy to help enable him. It's really not that they don't like what Trump is doing, they just don't like him personally and think him too loud and boorish. But then again, when have most of them ever really cared about that? They're fine with senile, ignorant, or incurious people running the show.

(115,869 posts)and also seem to have the attention span of gerbils. Mueller isn't a TV guy, but too many people expected him to testify as if he was a character in an episode of Law and Order. The media are like fish in water, they're swimming in their own media atmosphere and can't imagine a reality that isn't driven by TV.

(115,869 posts)Expectations were completely unrealistic. The Democratic committee members were trying to get certain facts from the report out in public, and they succeeded by Mueller's references to the report without further comment.

(10,039 posts)Of course "how he looked" as well as how he spoke and how he demonstrated a firm grasp of the material was important. he looked bad. He sounded bad and he didn't sound like he knew what the hell he was talking about. It looked and sounded like someone called him at 8am this morning and asked him to stop by the House to "clear a few things up". This isn't on the media!

(2,506 posts)Not Meuller looks like an addled old man, it says the Meuller says he did not exonerate Trump. I guess it depends on how you look at it. CNN says Meuller condemns Trump's WikiLeaks praise.

he agreed with and emphasized the crimes in the report. His reason for not charging Crooked Donald was clear. As much as he could, Mueller said what amounted to "Lock Him Up." What were the MSNBC hosts watching?

(8,930 posts)leading a "panel" of "pundits", telling people how they should think and interpret things, I am reminded that MSNBC, like Fox News, is owned and operated by Fascists. Fox, being presented as more slanted in its "opinion", I believe, is intended to fool people into thinking MSNBC and CNN are presenting a "liberal" point of view, relatively speaking.

(11,744 posts)People seemed to be as informed, if not more informed than they are today. The business model at that time seemed to be to get as much information in a compelling and thorough way as possible within the time limitations.
Remember how cable news came to be? CNN blasted into the consciousness with its exclusive coverage of the Gulf War I. Then after that, there were just constant scenes of car chases, or anywhere there were a bunch of police gathered (possibly to raid a crack house) they were there "I'm not sure what's going on (literally) but stay tuned and what we find out, we'll let you know". That is the cable news model. They have 24 hours a day of coverage to sell so their model is not to give you all of the information but to keep you tuned into the network. They provide a bunch of pretty stupid analysis from panels which often just devolve into details and no substance, conflict but no resolution.
I am decidedly against the idea of a 24 hours news cycle. I don't think that it has provided any real information for anyone. There are definitely commentators that I like on MSNBC like Rachel and Lawerence, but the "news" just seems to be about hooking people into the discussion rather than providing actual information.
