He is doing a fantastic job at the presser as are Nadler, Pelosi and Schiff.
For anyone that says Dems are doing nothing? You are dead wrong. They are making the case, the strongest case possible!
I love and support Democrats, ALWAYS!

(88,600 posts)Fact is, when there are only two people taking care of a 93 year old mother 24/7 home care, then you miss things. This has been ongoing for almost two years now and frankly it is going to be the death of me as I will be taking care of my sister as well in 30 days after her surgery.

(62,341 posts)even short term temporary home healthcare for your mom? What about for your sister after her surgery? Just a little that will take care of whatever new problem you can dream up to give you a break?

(88,600 posts)It helps to cut off her out of house doctors appointments that were becoming impossible, dragging a 25lb oxygen tank, wheel chair. walker and getting her to the car. So a nurse comes in once a week and they are available 24-7. Someone else bathes her twice a week with hospice.
We, through her insurance also have had a woman come in twice a week, a home aid that does laundry and cares for her a few hours a week. I don't know about my sister's recovery yet.
Thanks, Ilsa.

(62,341 posts)78 yo MIL who has progressing dementia. She can get easily confused at times, other times she's alert. She hasn't used her cpap in a couple of months because hers broke and her dr was supposed to have one sent to her. Still hasn't arrived. I just found this out today. No wonder her dementia "seems" worse.
Anyway, I give her medical history and am the one to take orders from her docs. I fill her med box and recently hubby and I dole out her meds am and pm. I'm just glad she can still bathe herself.
Oh, did I mention I have an adult special needs son who has two caregivers everyday to help me take him out and keep him on good behavior?
My life is packed with taking care of other people. I get my vaccinations so I don't get sick, but I am behind on getting my mammogram and bone density test.
Also, what Atticus said below.
Take care of you. Mammo and bone density are important. I had a scare a few months ago because they called me back for a sonogram. It was clear, sigh.
I did dementia with my dad 5 years ago. It isn't easy, near impossible. Take care of you.
Hugs to you and yours, Ilsa.

(62,341 posts)Caregivers my son knows in my absence. Sadly, one of the caregivers will be leaving in early August to return to college. I nedd to break a new one in, then I can leave my son in their care.
Today, the four of us were leaving McDonalds, and my son was about to step into the parking lot without looking. I stopped him, reminding him to look. Good thing I did because an old truck suddenly sped through really fast. If I hadn't stopped my soon when I did, we'd be in a hospital tonight. These are things I have to make certain caregivers understand and tend to.

(11,532 posts)It's exhausting and you barely have time to do the basics for yourself. Like getting your hair washed, let alone keep up with the news of the outside world. Take care of yourself. Caring for adult family members is a lot harder than most people realize.

(18,610 posts)He said we We the People of today must stand together to defend, protect and keep our democracy. To do so requires the truth. I am so proud to be a Democrat today.
ETA: His response was just on The Beat with Ari. It was part of the Democratic presser that was running over from the Chuckie Todd. Those shows usually post clips online. If so, theyll be worth seeing again.
sheshe2
(88,600 posts)Unfortunately, I missed a lot of it.

(9,981 posts)Elijah Cummings did such a fantastic job at the presser that I had tears streaming down my face because every word that he responded with was of the most importance. He nailed it!
I'm glad to hear that you have help taking care of your mother, She. It's not an easy job and not too many people can do this alone. Here's to you, Sheshe!

(88,600 posts)Lol...as I said above to, Me. I think I hijacked my own thread. That only happened when I was told that Elijah's injury was 'Old News'. I did not know because I can't keep up.
Tonight, I am off until tomorrow night when I put her to bed. I don't have to sleep with the baby monitor and cell next to me in bed.
Going to sleep now. Thank you.
