who badmouthed Mueller, claiming he's a republican and will sadly act like one, and there was A LOT of that going on, are you now convinced you were wrong? Do you think he acted in a partisan manner today?

(115,732 posts)And I wonder whether those who are having hissy fits because Mueller didn't pound the table and call Trump a traitor, a crook, a feckless blowhard and an all-around douchebag have thought about what would have happened if he'd done even a much more restrained version of that. Any noticeable anti-Trump partisanship would have only played into Trump's hands and supplied a factual basis, however small, for his baseless claims that Mueller is a compromised Democrat conducting a witch hunt. Mueller walked the tightrope perfectly.

Well, my opinion is meaningless either way..

(7,702 posts)He could have sunk the GOP for decades today. He did the job he was appointed by a Republic for: Protect the GOP at All Costs.
By not calling for impeaching, by our leadership is the proof of that.
Until we do otherwise, Trump won today.
(tears and fears)

(25,471 posts)If you honestly think he was going to do that, you haven't paid attention to anything he's done to date or read his report. That was never an option and was never a call he was going to make. It's also not his call.

(7,702 posts)The GOP would never appointed him SC if they thought he would.

(33,349 posts)Only the House of Representatives can impeach.
Mueller did as he said he would -- refer to his report.

(7,702 posts)He clearly did not.

(525 posts)Yes sir, it was Muellers job to indict, he failed to even interview key ppl.
Why would Dems push this made up excuse ?
Show me where the Constitution says you cant indict a sitting president.

The House of Representatives shall choose their speaker and other officers; and shall have the sole power of impeachment.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/articlei#section2
The Senate shall have the sole power to try all impeachments. When sitting for that purpose, they shall be on oath or affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no person shall be convicted without the concurrence of two thirds of the members present.
Judgment in cases of impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any office of honor, trust or profit under the United States: but the party convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to indictment, trial, judgment and punishment, according to law.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/articlei#section3
The President, Vice President and all civil officers of the United States, shall be removed from office on impeachment for, and conviction of, treason, bribery, or other high crimes and misdemeanors.
https://www.law.cornell.edu/constitution/articleii#section4
Now, show me where it says an employee of the Department of Justice can remove a President.

(525 posts)Republicans themselves said exactly that when they went after Clinton.
Thus it is just policy as Mueller himself stated.
So that argument holds no water.
This is a way to try and pass blame onto Dems.
And an attempt to split the party. If they can get fools to push Dems into impeachment Trump and co are free.
Question is why do many here keep pushing the current right wing narrative that we cant indict a sitting president?
Curious indeed. 🧐

(115,732 posts)isn't a made-for-TV entertainment event. These events aren't intended as entertainment but as one of the slowly-turning wheels of government. Things are happening, but not fun, amusing TV things. It reminds me a lot of the difference between a trial in a TV show like Law and Order, which is full of excitement and lawyers yelling and witnesses freaking out, and a real trial, which is mostly as boring as hell, consisting of witnesses who stammer and mutter, tedious introduction of documents and exhibits, and long interludes of bench conferences. If you've never seen a real trial you'll think Law and Order's trials are realistic; if you don't know what Congressional hearings are really for, you'll be disappointed at their lack of entertainment value.

(35,293 posts)I want him to be pissed off
Trump is stealing our country and Mueller's mouth could go a long way to stopping it
Private citizen Robert Mueller could hold a press conference and expose Trump as the criminal he is
But he doesn't want to "break the rules" or not "go by the book".
You think Trump gives a shit about breaking the rules or going by the book? You think trump has even read a book?

(115,732 posts)He refused to give Trump any factual basis for claiming he's a compromised Democrat conducting a witch hunt. If he'd come out with a statement to the effect that Trump is in fact guilty of crimes, he'd have hurt the Dems' chances at impeachment, not helped them.

(525 posts)He has totally failed at his job hes had multiple opportunities to get a complete investigation he had the power to do so and he failed to do so. His testimony made it seem like h didnt even read his own report. His testimony that really didnt say a whole hell of a lot except its ontge Dems now to impeach and he knows perfectly well that will he exonerate Trump.
The real question is why so many DUers are so adamant about protecting Mueller just like they were adamant about protecting Comey and Rosenstein ? And why so quick to call Pelosis and Schiffs actions political.
Nope, this is just a neat way for Mueller and the GOP to be able to turn the blame over on the Democrats, as usual, For whatever reason there is a group here that has done everything in their power to stop any neg talk about Mueller and lay it on Pelosi.
Sorry folks youre wasting your time. Fortunately Pelosi and Schiff hold the reins and not any of you.

(63,221 posts)For the life of me, I cannot understand this worship of Mueller on our side. Why are so many people defending him when it is clear that he is a partisan coward?
I am sickened by his gutless testimony today. He could have been a hero, but he chose to suck up to Barr and company. He was such a huge disappointment

I wish he had been able to say more, but, in the end, he's an authoritarian and Barr is the authority in his world, so he did what he could within the confines of what he was ordered to do.
