(5,935 posts)The transition between shows is usually great, but tonight's was fantastic.

(32,645 posts)The other hosts are all trashing Mueller, or calling him a disappointment.
I guess we know who's the REAL badass.

(4,982 posts)Yes, thank you, Rachel Maddow.
(Disclaimer: I have not watched but the first two hours of today's hearings. Will form my own opinion over the next few hours/day as I consume more of the footage. I encourage folks to watch Rachel's show, despite my general policy of being careful with causing a knee jerk echo chamber from a cable news program - of which I am a regular/avid viewer.)
The story of this nightmare is compelling when you stand back and take it in... Couldn't believe how far she traveled in the first 29 mins. I want answers to the questions she raised.
Why, Mueller, did you not think it important enough to clearly pursue Trump's taxes?
And, how on Earth, did the secrecy of Trump Tower Moscow not carry more weight in his prosecutorial methods and deliberations with regard to criminal intent and the implications of extortion under the scheme of tyrannical governance blah to the influences of a hostile power that we now face?
PS. No, I have not read the entire report, but I have it, and will do so.

(32,707 posts)You guys always try to keep things in perspective and hope for the best... At the same time, I think many are in denial about just how bad this entire episode has been handled by our leadership. From 11/9/16, it's just been one misstep after another. They let trump dictate the narrative from day 1.

(2,227 posts)because I was so afraid it was going to be the train wreck it apparently was...
So I followed the DU threads. They tended to reinforce my expectations of the train wreck.
It sounded like the pubes (no offense to any pubic hairs, anywhere) put on their expected shitshow, which is all they were concerned with.
But it also sounded like Mueller was less than stellar in his role. I'm sure the pubes will get their soundbites out of it, further undermining his credibility. But their audience can't be swayed, so who gives a shit.
I hoped that Rachel would pull it all together and make some (positive) sense out it.
She did, and she rocked.
I LOVE me some Rachel!
I think the only thing that saved the whole exercise was the methodical way the Dems asked questions, respectfully, getting to their points. Mueller basically just verified or confirmed what they read from the report.
But THAT is what the American public needs, since they must be spoon-fed everything by teevee, and soundbites.
THAT is sad.
I love Rachel we are lucky to have her

(28,125 posts)Don't ya get sick of DUers here saying that? Grrr.
Rachel and Lawrence are a couple of my few "sanity crutches." (+ DU, a couple of friends, and my pups who keep me hanging on. Otherwise, I'd be bonkers...not that I'm not. )
Oh & "60 Minutes always sucks" too, don't ya know.

(6,799 posts)She brought clarity to todays hearings. I agree with her, Mueller seemed old. I had the feeling he is exhausted. Wish I understood some of his reluctance.

(24,736 posts)Great job splicing it though.
Schiff was masterful. He asked the right questions. I felt like Mueller respected him - blew off miniscule amount of his questions.
I noticed Mueller's frailty at his 10 minute press conference. But I actually thought he was heroic today.
And I think Rachel overstated it. I think he was just being careful in his answers - listening closely, too.

(9,985 posts)To convey the tone I heard when I looked away, he'd have been in a dirty undershirt, with a 3-day beard, drinking something in a paper bag.
The man got to see the country he loved roughed up and treated like rented livestock (or trafficked humans), and he's tired of this shit. Tired, tired, tired!
