Sure, Trump doesn't care about refighting that war and is only using his supporters hate and bigotry to gain more $$$ and power.

But make no mistake, this entire political era is about his hardcore base taking what they think is rightfully theirs (and the countries) back.

Just jot down what was important to the South then and you pretty much have a list of what's important to their descendants now. Slightly altered of course.

... and lived to be, say, 70 years old (and had a bunch of kids as they did in those days) and his youngest lived to be a similar age, then that youngest kid would be approximately 70yo in 1990.

We're no where near as far away from that era as people think. And, starting from the Civil War on (and forever before), all the teachers and parents and role models mainly taught the same thing. And it was hatred and racism.
