(51,624 posts)I left a message and will continue to do so. I have called her local office, her DC office, went to a Town Hall of hers and she spoke at a protest recently but she is still not there yet.
This time I really was forceful and practically demanded her support. I was so passionate that I started to cry at the end so I wrapped it up.

There is no way to cordon them (the radical right) off into a non-ruling smaller percentage (like the hard RW Sverigedemokraterna, SD aka Sweden Democrats are reduced to overall powerlessness here in Sweden.)
They also think the Electoral College is madness, given the power of the US 'imperial' Presidency.
Sweden is one of the most American-friendly nations in the world, but 80% plus hate Trump with a burning passion. I am US born but completely British raised, so I face up as a Brit wherever I go in the world, and in the EU our reputation (due to Brexit) is also on the serious wane.
Overall, Europeans are FAR more nuanced in terms of judging Americans on an individual basis than I have seen in the my time in the US in regards to Europeans. America is SO provincial, a nation of belly-gazers on balance (thank dog that I have been surrounded by cosmopolitan types my entire time in the States.) Living in Los Angeles certainly has helped that.
BigmanPigman
(51,624 posts)with that we are very provincial. Living in blue cities has helped me maintain what little sanity I have. When I was so upset after Bush won in 2004 I moved to France for a bit and was afraid they would hate me due to Bush's No French Fries/Freedom Fries BS. They were super cool though and had the attitude of, "Bad politicians come and go, in time a decent POTUS will replace the bad one". I guess that when you have been a culture for a couple of thousand years your perspective is a wise one.

If people call their reps over Recess and attend town halls the number will certainly increase and maybe there will be enough to pressure making the others rest join them. I think pressure from the constituents is the main factor for the increase.
