For anyone looking to check if they were affected by the hack, they can go to this website. If you find yourself on the list, you can then submit a claim for any money you are owed.
According to The Verge, consumers affected by the breach can accept four years of credit-monitoring through Experian and up to six additional years with Equifax, but if they already use a credit-monitoring service, they can receive $125 in a check or pre-paid card.
They can also submit a claim for any time lost because of the breach, which will net them $25 per hour for up to 20 hours (which will require proof and documentation if they claim more than 10 hours).

Here is where you check to find out if your name is part of the Equifax breach:

Seems that you need to have credit monitoring to claim the $125.00.
Because I've been in a few different breaches, I show up (no surprise btw) and I am presently being monitored by a few different places for quite awhile. (excuse typos --> not good today)
Best of luck folks and do what you think is best for you!

(20,878 posts)I've been hit on this one and also the one from the former Scott Trade as well as the one that included Federal employees (something I did a long time ago but they sure didn't forget me! ).
I have no answers.
Read and research!
Best of luck regardless of what you decide to do about this situation.
Good idea to be informed if nothing else!

(2,191 posts)I think the number is something like 248k.
I'm trying to decide if I want to try at the $125 or take the credit monitoring.

(20,878 posts)I have never had a problem with them.
They send you a report every month telling you if you show up anywhere.
You might consider it. It is free, I know that much.

(2,191 posts)CK doesn't provide FICO scores, but the reporting does indicate trends in the Vantage (sometimes called FAKO) scores.
You can also sign up for a free score once a month from Discover Credit Scorecard; you don't need to have a Discover card
https://csp.discover.com/free-credit-score/index.html
It gives you a FICO 08 Experian score.
