Thanks to Soph0571!
===============
A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices.
Rumored to be George Orwell but it has been called into question.

OP
I agree - most books/etc. to help us weather the storms can also be used against us.

Except that it's not in the book Newsweek claimed it was. Best info was he never said it.

But he doesnt mean me.
Little do they know. They will be among the first to the slaughter mainly because they are so gullible and unsuspecting. Theyll never see it coming.
Actually, I think they kill the most dangerous first, then the others just follow along. No offense Grammy23.

Were all just trying to understand what is happening and why. I may think one thing because of things I know and understand to be truth. You might see things another way. As long as we are not getting sidetracked fighting amongst ourselves, it is all good.
I hope some day soon we find out the truth of what is going on and who is behind it. We have certain pieces of the puzzle, but not all of the players. So were trying to assemble a jigsaw puzzle without a reference photo. Gotta try different pieces until we get the right fit!

I didn't get the feeling that RepubliCons are using his books, that were intended as a warning, as a friggin user manual.

All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others.

It's not at all like anything that would appear in Animal Farm, obviously. It's also unlikely to have come from any foreword, or commentary, for the novel that Orwell might have written - since Animal Farm is not about elections.
Newsweek claims that a book of his letters and essays, "The Collected Essays, Journalism and Letters of George Orwell: As I Please, 1943-1945", says it comes from the 1940s. But a search on Amazon in that book doesn't show it at all.
Orwell is one of those people to whom endless quotes get attributed to try and make them look "timeless", or "acceptable to all viewpoints".
I'd say that Orwell blaming ordinary people as "accomplices" would be pretty out of character, really. Remember, he talked extensively about how propaganda distorted people's view of the world, both in essays, and in the novels Animal Farm and 1984.

from an essay or book by Orwell.

I searched that book; it's not there. There is no evidence that Orwell said this rather uncharacteristic remark. It's an urban myth.
