Nancy Pelosi crashes press conference to tear into Mitch McConnell, rage at 'cowardly' Republicans

Nancy Pelosi crashed the House impeachment manager's post-trial press conference Saturday to rage against Mitch McConnell and call out Republicans' 'cowardly' vote to stop Donald Trump from being convicted for 'incitement of insurrection'.

'It had not been my intention to come to this press availability,' Pelosi said as she spoke to reporters on the fifth and final day of the Senate proceedings. 'But what we saw today was a cowardly group of Republicans who apparently have no options because they were afraid to defend their job – respect the institution in which they serve. But why I came over was because I listened to Mitch McConnell,' Pelosi continued.

Pelosi angrily recounted the events of January where McConnell, who was still Senate majority leader at the time, refused to accept the impeachment article against Trump before Joe Biden's inauguration. 'So for him to get up there and make this indictment against the president and then say, 'but I can't vote for it because it's after the fact.' The fact that he established! The fact that he established that it could not be delivered after the inauguration.'

When asked about censuring the ex-president, Pelosi asserted that didn't go nearly far enough. 'Oh these cowardly senators who couldn't face up to what the president did and what was at stake for our country are now going to have a chance to give a little slap on the wrist,' she said as she physically gave herself a slap on the wrist.

'We censure people for using stationary for the wrong purpose,' she said, picking up a few pieces of paper laying on the podium and waving them around. She added: 'We don't censure people for inciting insurrections.'

Pelosi suggested Republicans voted to not convict Trump because they 'can't get another job' and want to make sure they are reelected.

after they breached the Capitol Building. She should rip McConnell limb to limb. McConnell purposely delayed a trial so that he could turn around and claim that since Trump was out of office, a conviction was not right. What Mitch should understand is that a Trump has a knife pointed at Mitch’s back, Mitch is going to get what he deserves.

And called McConnell out for his cynical ploy of keeping the Senate out of session so they couldn't receive the article of impeachment, then claiming he voted to acquit because the trial happened after Trump was out of office. A circumstance he himself made happen.

I was just happy to see 7 voted along with the dems to convict. At least they'll be able to live with themselves and sleep at night. None of them need money. They're all millionaires. I hope they switch parties on seeing what a bunch of losers and lunatics their present party has been representing when they start getting death threats. The whole world knows Dumpy should've been convicted and that the GOP is full of ignorant, bigotted, greedy, raging maniacs with no sense of decency, integrity, or reality.

To a fucking moron.

For no good reason.

Because at the end of the day, if he would have done the correct thing as Mike Pence did and relegated a pretender to the obscurity he so richly deserves there would have been no effect. Things would have gone on in the US as they had for 234 years.

Now, however, he has turned over the reigns to the worst element. He destroyed every semblance of justice and equality in this country by not doing what he had taken an oath to do.

If they did not actually help to facilitate it then their absolute dereliction of duty makes them complicit. That is what they are and they should have that tattooed across their foreheads. There is no walking away from this laughing and claiming vindication. They have let a treasonous dictator wannabe, who ordered thousands of people to violently attempt a coup d'etat of the government of the United States, walk away with no accountability.

This is simply unacceptable. The human excrement like Josh Hawley, MTG, Lindsey Graham, Ted Cruz and the rest of the ring leaders and enablers still need to be fully investigated and dealt with despite this abomination of justice by the Senate Republicans.

This senate acquittal should really be no surprise to anyone. It simply proves that we have been right about these people all along. Let the states deal with Trump, but we need to continue to fight hard to nail the rest of this scum.

When she started talking about how prospective candidates approach her about running for the House saying things like "I could be head of my department or run a foundation or be the best neurosurgeon", etc, I wondered where she was going. Then she said, she liked that because she wanted candidates who had other career options than entering politics. Then she brought down the Mace of the Republic on their heads saying the R acquitters must not have any other career option than serving in the Senate.
