Dayton Shooter Took a 'Rape List' to School and Made Threats to Women

The 24-year-old man who murdered nine people at a bar in Dayton, Ohio, on Sunday had a history of making misogynist threats targeting former female classmates, according to several news reports. More recently, he was also in a band that sang violent songs about raping and murdering women, according to Vice News.

Former students who attended Bellbrook High School with Connor Betts, who was killed by police after committing the rampage (in which his own 22-year-old sister was a victim), said that he was known to school officials and police for bringing a “rape list” of women into school, as well as for speaking directly to at least one woman about violently killing her. Still, he was able to purchase the weapons he used to commit the shooting legally in the state of Ohio.

One former classmate from as far back as middle school told the Dayton Daily News that she had reported violent threats Betts made to her to police. Betts “once said he fantasized about tying her up and slitting her throat,” she said. She recounted that she had spoken to Betts directly about “getting help,” and that she and her parents told school police about the issue, but that “she felt she wasn’t taken seriously, despite the would-be shooter including her on a hit list.”

2. Sounds like another incel with more problems than that.

The police did arrest him on a school bus and he was out of school for a whole year. He was in a heavy metal band that sang about killing and raping. Yes, he has a lot of serious problems. Add them to the biggie...the guns are available and these aren't just "guns". They are designed to rip flesh apart inside of live humans and to do it very quickly. They are weapons of war. THIS IS THE PROBLEM we need to address first. The unique combination of these easily accessible war machines PLUS other at-risk factors will result in mass murders.

and reported her fears.

The classmate, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the shooter once said he fantasized about tying her up and slitting her throat. The fetish was so macabre that even the shooter admitted he was scared of his thoughts, the woman recalled him saying.

“He knew it wasn’t normal,” the woman said about the decade-old conversation. “He and I talked at length about him getting help.”

The woman said she and her parents told Bellbrook police about the bizarre admission, but the woman said she felt she wasn’t taken seriously, despite the would-be shooter including her on a hit list.

Bellbrook police haven’t released information about any involvement they might have had with him.
