He's a SOCIOPATH. In the words of Beto...of COURSE he's a racist. Also...of COURSE

he's obviously a misogynist...and a religious bigot...and a repugnant bully...and a toxic narcissist...and an immoral scoundrel.

I know media has just been debating if he's a racist or not and at least it's progress that they are using the 'r' word...but when will it be time that the media sees the forest and not just the trees, put it all together and just start all conversations with the context: we all know he's a sick, reprehensible sociopath so let's start with that....

Instead we move from one aspect of his sociopathy to another as though unrelated.

because as a sociopath it’s easy for him to do so without scruple, without a conscience as to
any greater good or any harm other than to his own interests.

Racism is certainly a pathological belief system.

Trump is ideologically-fluid though he certainly has shown racist behaviors and thinking in the past,
and his presidential projects are those which are based on racist, anti-immigrant fear and fervor. Still, he is motivated mainly by his self-interest which revolves around power and money.

He is actually more tricky than an ideologue. He would gladly embrace ISIS if they served his need to aggrandize himself.

And let us not forget. In America, he does Putin’s work. Racial division and violence is just part of the playbook.

If it is unethical for psychiatrists to give a professional opinion about public figures whom they have not examined in person, why is it ok for us to do the it? If we can diagnose Trump using a list of symptoms we have read on the internet, then can't Trump just do the same himself and label those who oppose him as mentally ill? His statement about how the mentally ill can be involuntarily confined pretty much reeks of using that as a pretext to "confine" his opposition who would not get to consult a lawyer or see a judge.

Do we blame the mentally ill for the acts they commit as a result of their mental illness?
Of course not.
Trump does not need to be mentally ill to be evil. Hatred, racism, xenophobia, and misogyny are not mental illnesses yet they define Trump along with other negative behaviors.

someone based on what we see, hear, and read. I realize what we experience is only a small slice of the whole person I still think we can attempt to understand and label. And I think our dem leaders and pundits and journalists can head in that direction too, if apt. If it makes people feel better, we can say he APPEARS to be a sociopath. Which he does.

Not too concerned with absolute scientific accuracy here and overly cautious terminology with respect to dangerous political leaders and I think dems would be well served to start assuming the worst wrt Trump and let his supporters prove otherwise.

A super quick look at online definitions of sociopathy or antisocial personality disorder or psychopathy reveals information that roughly approximates what we are seeing from Trump. I'll leave the fine distinctions to forensic historians or to professionals or to his doctors and continue with my observation that the man displays sick, sociopathic behavior and that for important practical reasons we ought to start thinking in these terms. (Plenty of psychologists have weighed in by the way with their own opinions that may not follow their professional rules but it seems they had over-riding concerns). It's just as valid, maybe more so, than every media outlet asking politicians whether or not he's a racist.

A sociopath is a term used to describe someone who has antisocial personality disorder (ASPD). People with ASPD can't understand others' feelings. They'll often break rules or make impulsive decisions without feeling guilty for the harm they cause.

dissocial personality disorder (F60.2):[55][56]

It is characterized by at least 3 of the following:
Callous unconcern for the feelings of others;
Gross and persistent attitude of irresponsibility and disregard for social norms, rules, and obligations;
Incapacity to maintain enduring relationships, though having no difficulty in establishing them;
Very low tolerance to frustration and a low threshold for discharge of aggression, including violence;
Incapacity to experience guilt or to profit from experience, particularly punishment;
Marked readiness to blame others or to offer plausible rationalizations for the behavior that has brought the person into conflict with society.
The ICD states that this diagnosis includes "amoral, antisocial, asocial, psychopathic, and sociopathic personality".

Antisocial personality disorder (ASPD or APD) is a personality disorder characterized by a long term pattern of disregard for, or violation of, the rights of others. A low moral sense or conscience is often apparent, as well as a history of crime, legal problems, or impulsive and aggressive behavior.[3][4]

Not sure if his condition is a mental illness or a disorder or a facade....or if it's genetic or learned or neurological or just due to a series of bad hair days...all our lives are in his hands and in the hands of the GOP and it's high time that we not treat his behavior as normal or wait for his own psychologist/psychiatrist to give us an official diagnosis. He APPEARS and behaves like some sort of sociopathic, immoral, disordered, dangerous, evil, sick human who has become the most powerful person in the world.
