When Trump senses political trouble, he often pivots to the issue that appears to resonate most with his conservative base: immigration. As he continues to be criticized by Democratic lawmakers, pro-migrant advocates and Democratic officials in Dayton and El Paso, he was watching cable television as he mounted his defense.
He started Tuesday morning by posting a quote he attributed to Fox News personality Brian Kilmeade on its Fox & Friends morning show. President Obama had 32 mass shootings during his reign. Not many people said Obama is out of Control, Kilmeade said, adding mass murders using guns were occurring on U.S. soil (under Obama) before Trump considered a White House bid.
Trump who in May told a rally crowd in Panama City Beach, Fla., that one solution to what he calls an influx of undocumented Latino migrants would be to shoot them then found an ally in one of Kilmeades morning cohosts, Ainsley Earhardt. He posted a quote from her saying his critics and Democrats opponents merely want to push that racist narrative because the 2020 election is around the corner. (Trumphaters are playing 'the race card')
The president added a line straight out of one of his political rallies: I am the least racist person. Black, Hispanic and Asian Unemployment is the lowest (BEST) in the history of the United States! The president and his surrogates often describe themselves and all conservatives as victims who are under attack by everyone from undocumented migrants to the media to Democratic lawmakers to large tech firms to other including friendly governments.

(11,738 posts)If President Obama had used his status as President to say, "Now..um...White people...um, they are the worsts and um....someone should really do something about them..." repeatedly throughout his time in office, I mean just constantly saying, "We need to stop the menace of White people in this country, the infestation of Whites has got to stop..." Over and over again. If President Obama vilified White people like Trump has vilified non-White people and then Black and Latino guys started just mass shootings of White people, then I would totally agree that President Obama was out of control.
President Obama was criticized regularly by progressives and moderates for not doing enough on guns. He was criticized by Latino groups and immigration groups for being, "the deporter in chief" though his focus was on undocumented people who had violent offenses or were gang affiliated. We held president Obama to account unlike the right wingers who offer defense for this racist, hateful jerk in the White House.
