Vice President Mike Pence said Tuesday he was surprised by media criticism of his wifes decision to teach art at a school with devout Christian beliefs, and said hes gotten lots of practice in forgiving his critics.
As a Christian believer were charged to pray for our loved ones, but also pray for our enemies. You have lots of opportunities in politics to do that, Mr. Pence said.
He was speaking to the Alliance Defending Freedom, a Christian religious liberty organization, and ADF CEO Michael Farris asked him for advice on how to handle attacks on his faith and beliefs.
Mr. Pence recounted the criticism of his wife Karen earlier this year when she returned to a part-time position reaching art at Immanuel Christian School, in Northern Virginia, which discourages gay teachers or students.

(63,221 posts)Because we know Pence, and most of the Republicans, spend a lot of time "on their knees" in one way or another. And not much of that time is in prayer.

(4,742 posts)While the implication is not inherently "perverse" in any way, it's totally fair game to laugh your ass off at it coming from his mouth.

As long as they're willing to live and let live.

Replace "god" and "Jesus" with "Santa Clause" or "Harvey the rabbit" in anything Pence says and watch how fast he's snatched up off the streets and hospitalized for the good of himself and society.

I remember when they were. Started changing with the WWII veterans leaving congress under Reagan. Buy 1994 they were done.
If you are not white, evangelical Christian and nationalist you are now the enemy. The pro-business, cultivation of the rich is just a tool for their real goal. Religious dominance.
As the percentage of white, evangelical nationalist continues to shrink to the point where even our purposefully non-democratic method of Federal elections works for them they are abandoning all pretense that the majority opinion should win out.
I guarantee you his prayers, which I have no doubt be believes in, is that we will see the light before god forces them to go full authoritarian. Which they are working hard for now.
Trump is a nihilist. He believes in his own power and nothing else.
Pence, Pompeo and much of the gop are even scarier. They truly believe they are working to bring about Armageddon and the return of their Jesus.
My fear is that before the inevitable demographic purgatory hits them they will take decisive action to bring about their fever dreams.
If Trump woke up tomorrow and decided he was all wrong, was the Democrat he always was and tried to enact our policies, they would enact the 25th amendment in a heartbeat. He is just a tool.
