Having spent more than a little time working in a Trauma Center near you, that kind of behavior would have never been tolerated.
At best, since the whole ER is based on "Triage", they would have spent 8-10 hours waiting for other patients being treated ahead of them, even for a runny nose.....LOL

My husband did 2 years working as an admittance tech in NW Herman Memorial ER in Houston. The stories I’d hear almost every day.

Because our health insurance, and preventative health care system is so damn broken that so many who are without coverage wait until any condition they are in gets to a point of criticality the ER is often a cauldron of panic, anger, and overt hostility.

All those MAGA’t assholes who are always screaming that they don’t want to pay for other peoples healthcare are too damn dense and willfully stupid to stop and realize that the ARE paying for it, but paying at a much higher rate because conditions that could have been treated preventatively for much less are allowed to grow unchecked into high cost conditions.

They never stop to wonder why their insurance is being billed $150 and directly through deductible/copay another $39 for a $0.50 syringe.. and everything else they pay ridiculous prices for when those who do have money and insurance go to the ER.

Stopping hospital violence requires zero tolerance for unruly behavior, expert says
Webinar sponsored by AHA, ASHRM emphasizes processes to curb violence
March 16, 2017
Marty Stempniak

Hospitals must adopt a zero-tolerance mindset toward violence in their facilities and stop accepting the incidents as part of the job or underreporting them to improve patient satisfaction scores, according to Monica Cooke, a mental health registered nurse and risk management consultant with Quality Plus Solutions LLC.

Cooke delivered that message during a Feb. 15 webinar hosted by the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management of the American Hospital Association (AHA).

Cooke notes that more than half of emergency department nurses experience physical or verbal violence in a given week, and the majority do not report the incident.

Health care professionals get shit from their bosses when they stand up for themselves, and shit from their worst patients when they don't.

I always think hard before I call the police for anything.

I suffer no illusions that the police in the U.S.A. exist to protect me or anyone else, or even that police will do the right thing once they show up. They should, but too often they don't.

Which is why I no longer teach Community College classes. Too many whiny, entitled monsters in my class and an administration who's only concern was not getting sued. The safety of their staff never factored into their decisions.

We had a kid stand up in class and announce that he was going to go get a gun and kill the professor. I found out about it by reading an article in the newspaper. The college never even bothered to warn the rest of us about this kid.

From anyone whether in the ER or office or anywhere. My mom was an ER nurse for years and druggies were the worse when finding out the dr would prescribe a non-steroidal for pain rather than an opiate. Families could be bad too.

And while we are at it...teachers get lots of abuse too! Especially from parents who fail to teach their kids to respect authority and who come try to battle the teacher for making little Ethan obey in class. More than once my wife has come home in tears after having a momma bear rip her a new one for punishing her sweet child. The latest was because my wife took a kid’s cap because he repeatedly wore it in the building and ignored warnings to to take it off. The mom requested a meeting with my wife only to start the meeting telling my wife to give the cap back to her son and apologize. She did neither.

of bad teacher actions where the child’s experience should supersede teacher authority. It would hopefully be rare. I guess my point is parents’ default position should be a teacher has authority in his/her classroom as it relates tie the child. Too many parents are taking their child’s side automatically.

The anecdote I gave regarding my wife confiscating the young punk’s cap is a great example. Without knowing the story, mom sent a note saying that if he didn’t bring the cap home that day, she would come to the school the next day herself to retrieve it. Mind you, my wife has a patient, long-suffering, sometime timid personality. She gave the kid numerous warnings. The bitch of a momma bear mom went straight to assuming my wife was wrong.

If I would have come home telling my dad a teacher took my cap because I ignored her orders repeatedly to remove it, he would have have beat my ass (deservedly so) and sent a letter to my teacher that she would no longer have a problem with me on that particular issue.

I should have been more clear on my original report and explained there was room for dealing with teachers clearly in the wrong.

WTF has happened to this Trump troll country lately?

I'm a native of Denver. I grew up learning to speak Spanish in the Denver Public Schools, and attended a city-wide cultural arts program where we learned about the 500 year-old Hispanic culture of Colorado and the American West. Colorado was originally part of the northern half of Mexico that was extorted (at gun point) by the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.

I was proud when my city of Denver elected Mayor Federico Pena and, later, U.S. Senator Ken Salazar-- two Hispanic American statesmen from old Colorado.

But now we have a racist moron in the White House who knows NOTHING about the American West, stirring up this kind of racist CRAP!

I blame Donald Trump directly for this bullshit -- including the murders and harassment of Hispanic Americans in El Paso, New Mexico, and Colorado. It's criminal.

We have to get this bastard out of the White House!
