I am a strong Antifa supporter, and although I personally do not agree with this characterization, I could at least realistically see them as MAYBE being classified as a street gang, as some law enforcement agencies have tried to do. I don't agree with it, as far as I'm concerned they should be classified as heroes, but it at least makes some kind of sense when I play devil's advocate and try and see things through eyes other than my own.

But terrorism? That's nothing short of ridiculous, dangerous, hypocritical, and insane.

They're on our side. The repugs and many in the media try to equate them with the "nice people-white supremacists terrorists".

Not true. Fighting fascism is a noble cause, dating back to at least the Spanish Civil War.

I recommend a great movie on this from 1943 starring Bette Davis and Paul Lukas. Both of them do an excellent job. It's called "Watch on the Rhine". If you like "Casablanca" you will like it too. It's one of those movies that stays with you.

You might find it on Youtube. I caught it on TCM and they repeat it from time to time. There is another movie from 2008 with the same title. It's not the same movie retold though.

I’m with you.

Everybody knows what facists are, even facists. They want to confuse the situation with a made up word that obscures reality rather than a clear word that defines them simply and in bold letters. They are facists. We are against them so we are antifacists.

The nazis are definitely their team. Openly so. Rump is with them, they're the bad guys.

They're trying to put forward a fake notion that BLM, Women's groups, Immigrant groups, environmental groups, anti nazis, are radical terrorists, and their nazis are the active action front of good normal America. Though they're demonstrably criminal squalid goons.

Rump does want to divide us, but he's not above the dynamic, he's on the bad guy enemy side of the divide. Who opposes them is good normal Americans, the opposing side, opposite of his bad team. We claim good normal America, while those nazis sing the 'star spangled banner' while waving nazi flags.

They have their lying propaganda speeches rehearsed, and facts have absolutely no place in their ethos. Remember "alternative facts"? That was early-on in the Trump/white supremacist lexicon. It's gotten worse since then.

The mainstream media often portrays Antifa as a mirror of extreme right wing groups. They do it in very simplistic terms without even attempting to understand the aims and tactics, other than direct confrontation and defensive violence that Antifa uses. People on this site have gone along with denouncing Antifa as being just the opposite of right wing extremists.

That's because there is no legal provision for doing so, at least not yet. As usual, Trump is talking (tweeting) out of his ass.

SPLC says why it doesn't count antifa as a hate group:

antifa groups do not promote hatred based on race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or gender identity (see criteria above)... Antifa, for example, differ from hate groups in that they are not typically organized around bigotry against people based on the characteristics listed above.

https://www.splcenter.org/20171004/frequently-asked-questions-about-hate-groups#antifa

It's the hate groups that produce domestic terrorists. And Trump is their terrorist whisperer.

The KKK is a group. Antifa is a group. “White nationalism” is like an ideology. How do you declare an ideology to be a terrorist organization?
