(CNN) Britain's Prince Andrew has said he is "appalled" by the sex abuse claims against his former associate Jeffrey Epstein.
The Duke of York released a statement Monday after footage emerged over the weekend which claimed to show the royal inside the convicted pedophile's New York mansion in 2010 -- two years after Epstein first pleaded guilty to sex crimes.
In the footage obtained by The Mail On Sunday, the British paper says Prince Andrew can be seen at the door of the disgraced hedge fund manager's Manhattan home, waving goodbye to a young woman leaving the property.

The Mail reports the video (in link below) it published Sunday was shot on December 6, 2010, around the time the royal was photographed with Epstein in New York's Central Park. The images showed that Prince Andrew was still associating with Epstein after his controversial 2008 plea deal amid similar accusations.

*Are you sure "appalled" is the word you're looking for Andy - not scared shitless???

(2,567 posts)that I got pulled into this rabbit hole last week and he's been denying it all forever, with so much shock. Really, all of these people are like Psych 101 case studies.

(21,849 posts)I thought he had kept a low-profile until the death.
I guess I'm glad to say that I didn't follow it so closely.

(2,567 posts)I'm annoyed with CNN for making this front-page news. They need to help us be more selective with the use of our time. It's just too easy to fall into these cesspools, while the world burns.

(2,567 posts)He's feeling a lot of shame and embarrassment, and just needs to go get some help to deal with it. Instead he actually thinks we believe him. Yes, he's appalled--at his own behavior. Don't waste my air time, Andy. Get help. Be a role model for the kajillion other rich and powerful men who engage in pedophilia. Otherwise? Not hearing it, Prince.

Not sure its fair to call him a pedophile even if he did sleep with her as she says. I'm not sure she's said exactly how old she was when it happened but 17 is legal age in many countries and US States (such as NY). And it's not proof he had any idea of the extent of what Epstein was up to.
Just sayin'.

(33,643 posts)But TTBOMK only one has claimed to have been ordered to sleep w/Prince Andrew. She's also the one that fingered (pardon the expression) Dershowitz. I believe her last name was (at the time) Giuffre IIRC. She was the strawberry blonde victim who'd been working at Mar-A-Loco when 'recruited', and she was 17 when she started working there.

(2,567 posts)But I'm not taking on the whole battle of what is an actual child. We are talking about child-like, certainly not a fully formed human adult brain and body, being exploited by middle-aged men. Women as young as what--14? were mentioned in the sex trafficking charges against Epstein. The pictures of Virginia Roberts in adult company look like someone's child who had to go with her parents to a party because they couldn't find a sitter. She was a daughter of a servant at Mar-A-Lago. I truly believe that if they found a 12-year-old who was available, the "as young as" would have changed.
Still, you make a point about what constitutes pedophilia. So if I wanted to spend one more second on this I would change my wording. But I don't so I'm leaving it here. If you have better wording I promise I'll use it the next time I get sucked into this. (Sadly, I know I will.)
If I never see another picture of Epstein, it will be too soon.

(33,643 posts)that he wanted them to find him 'the youngest looking girls possible'. To me that says 'pedo', even if technically they were all adolescents, and hence the more accurate term would be 'hebephile'.
In my book it's one thing to be desirous of 16 year olds that look like ... say ... Brooke Shields at 16 ... and a whole other kind of pervertedness to desire 14 year olds ... that preferably look 12. From what I've read, Epstein was the latter sort. I read he berated one adolescent girl he was screwing ... because her breasts were getting too large ... what does that tell ya?
But I'm not going to paint Prince Andrew as being of that same mind without a bit more evidence than I've seen.

(2,567 posts)And whatever it is, it's rampant. I remember about 15 years ago when I was shopping for dress-up shoes for two little girls, ages 3 and 5. They suddenly had high heels on them. Like 2" heels, which on girls that young I still think were high--high enough to fall down, high enough to do that little something that adult high heels do to our bodies.
Eeek. I keep falling in. Have a great day--and no, I don't know about Prince Andrew either and really never will, but what I do know is that his is a voice that's screaming shame, and that kind of shame is absorbed early in life, and that he could help if he'd get help. He'd help himself and help others if he went public about it.
