NYPD Commissioner to announce decision on firing of Officer Daniel Pantaleo over chokehold death of
New York Daily NewsNYPD Commissioner James O’Neill is expected to announce Monday his long-awaited decision whether to fire Officer Daniel Pantaleo for the Staten Island chokehold death of Eric Garner.
O’Neill is holding a 12:30 p.m. press conference at police headquarters in lower Manhattan to make the announcement.
Rev. Al Sharpton said Monday he has not been briefed on what the decision will be.
“I just cant see how, based on how strong the judge’s words were on this, how the outcome could be anything but Pantaleo being fired,” Sharpton said. “I don’t see how (O’Neill) could justify anything else.”
