Donald Trump claims he's a billionaire. Never produces proof. Lies about why he can't produce proof. Everyone just moves on.

4. Says more about us than about Warren and Trump.

Warren was told in family lore that she had Native American ancestry. It is in my family lore that we have indigenous Mexican ancestry. I am sure that many people depending where they are from, have some lore about it within their families. Warren understood that this information was a distraction and was considered harmful to certain groups within the Native American population. She, having a conscience, understood that she had to make amends though her intention was not to hurt anyone in the first place.

Trump on the other hand lies about EVERYTHING and never accepts responsibility or apologizes for anything. His status as a billionaire or not is almost irrelevant at this point. There is sufficient proof to show that Trump has very little business sense other than how to con or bully people into giving him money. He lies about things that are irrelevant to almost everything except for the preservation of his fragile sense of self. The problem is that his lies have consequences for the entire American population and much of the world.

What does that say about US?

That too many of us consider introspection and acknowledgement of our humanity a weakness. That being wrong and strong is better than being a thoughtful human being. It makes it seem that America walks around afraid of the skeletons in our closet and so a portion of our population identifies more with a blustering, bloviating idiot, than with a thoughtful intelligent person who makes mistakes and owns them.

... that on my father's side there was a Chief Rabbi of Poland -- but by this generation nobody has a clue as to when or how far back or his name -- and on my mother's side, a Chief Rabbi of Romania - also absent any details. If you looked at me you'd NEVER believe either story. But that's what passes for family history in my family.

Elizabeth Warren was similarly told that she had an Indian ancestor - no details, no dates, no names - as part of her family history. Should she have repudiated it as a lie absent evidence either way? The DNA evidence showed it was true, but that it was back around the Revolutionary War or even earlier. Well at least her DNA supported the family history, my DNA doesn't show if any ancestors were clergy.

And the DNA test proved she did indeed have a Native American ancestor.

Apparently Rude is referring to a card she filled out once that asked for ethnicity. It did not say what percentage you had to be to claim any ethnicity in your bloodline, so she put down Native American. She did not profit from this designation in any way. And what exactly is wrong with being proud to have NA blood, even if it is a small percentage? She had nothing to apologize about.
