A Recap of the RNC. (AKA "Profiles in Clownage")

Day One: The Party that believes global warming isn't real, and natural disasters are god's way of punishing the wicked has their Convention washed out by a hurricane. None of them notice the irony.

Day Two: Some racists throw peanuts at an African-American woman, Ann Romney does a bad impersonation of an airline stewardess pointing out the emergency exits, and Hurricane Isaac hits Louisiana prompting Bobby Jindal to whine that he's not getting ENOUGH help from the federal government. President Obama responds by sending Jindal a tape of his 2009 State of the Union Address rebuttal entitled "Americans Can Do Anything (without government)."

Day Three: Paul Ryan makes a speech that causes the press to launch into a semantics debate on the differences between LIES and 'factually incorrect statements,' and whether the truth even MATTERS to the Republican base anymore. Ryan is left confused as to why he never got his compulsory props for having a ripped set of abs.

Day Four: A senile old man has a rhetorical debate with an empty chair, and loses. (I can only assume the Straw-Man had decided to go to a strip club for a lap dance, and the chair was a last minute substitution.)

I gather that SOMEWHERE in there the GOP chose a presidential candidate, and he made a speech of some sort, but I really didn't notice. Did anybody catch it?

much that the voting public ALSO thinks of that as a success.

Neither is the press immune from 'The Soft Prejudice of Lowered (Republican) Expectations.' Witness Chuck "Friar Tuck" Todd's stupid comments about Democratic Party 'envy' of the 'diversity' of speakers at the RNC. They round up BOTH of the TWO Republican Congressman who happen to be African Americans and have them as speakers, and suddenly it becomes the 'man bites dog' story of the Republican Party's big tent diversity.
