Of course, he'll do or say something over the weekend that is worse, but this really is a new low.
Let's just say that the Cabinet initiates whatever needs to be done under the 25th Amendment. On the one hand, maybe Trump would be gone. Yay.
On the other hand, Pence would be president?
You know, I would think that for Democrats it would be better for Trump to remain in office. Pence scares me just as much, though in different ways. The RW religious extremism is terrifying, and it would embolden (even more) the evangelicals.
Sure, it might not happen, but if it does, what's your take?

100,000,000 nasty pieces of Evangelical.
Get rid of him, that's one down.

(33,345 posts)He's not "insane" in the sense of a ranting Schizophrenic on the street.
The Cabinet thinks his trolling of the Libs is fucking hilarious, as do he voters and media sycophants.

If we're going to use that in the campaign, I suggest not nominating someone older than Trump!

(26,264 posts)Believe me, I worry about that possibility, every single day and don't cast that opinion lightly.
I haven't read about this 'curse' being present in, say, the Biden family. I don't know about his father, but I seem to recall his mother lived to a full and fiesty old age. I don't worry about Joe's occasional 'gaffs' because, well, he's always made them and when confronted, he admits his mistakes. In my experience, people with cognitive diseases refuse to admit there is a problem.
And, even at Reagan's worse, I didn't worry that he'd trigger a nuclear incident. The people surrounding him were pretty vile but they weren't nearly as cultish as what we are seeing, now. IMHO, of course.

(11,314 posts)Pence (while only the lesser of two evils) would be, marginally, better for the country ...
On the other hand, Trump's removal provides some political "cover" for people, and a party, that have been totally complicit in all of the shame and degradation inflicted to this point. I don't think THAT is a desirable result. I hate to say it, as I'm generally fairly pragmatic, but I think the lesson to the country (and the American people) needs to be driven home. Painfully. This is what happens when you are cavalier with your politics and institutions.
