What Trump forgets (or maybe never knew - cause he is a simpleton) is that the Chinese have a very different system of governance. If the Chinese people hurt because of a trade war, no-one is the Chinese elite will give a shit. Neither will the American elite when blue collar workers hurt. The big difference of course is that pesky thing called elections. China just a generation ago was as poor as a church mouse. Hundreds of millions lived in abject poverty, those same hundreds of millions have now moved up the economic scale to poverty. If they move back to abject poverty? *shrug*.
