Republicans dominate 'Dancing With the Stars.' Can Democrats get their own reality show?

Dancing With the Stars has a hallowed tradition of GOP personalities: disgraced senator Tom DeLay, snappy dresser Tucker Carlson, and now Bristol Palin. Bristol’s mother Sarah appeared on DWTS, and is now prepping her own reality TV show, Sarah Palin’s Alaska. In fact, as an intriguing article from the L.A. Times argues, the Republican party is embracing reality TV. (John McCain is courting Snooki’s endorsement on Twitter, which is not a sentence anyone ever wants to write.) Are Democrats losing the all-important reality TV vote?

Democrats have mostly ignored the genre’s unique power to connect with John Q. Public. Sure, CIA Director Leon Panetta appeared for a couple minutes on Top Chef, and Michelle Obama appeared for a couple minutes on Iron Chef America, but those are semi-classy cable productions pegged to an urban elite audience. (Also, Michelle Obama’s garden made a cameo appearance a couple seasons ago on Biggest Loser. New stereotype alert: Geez, what’s with the Democrats and their food-centric reality shows, am I right?)

He's a pariah. The butt of endless jokes. A worthy replacement for Baghdad Bob as the symbol of institutionalized, over-the-top lying. A star? I've never really understood that concept other than the fact that they're well known. But so is Hitler and Stalin.

They both play trump and his minions promoting lie after lie to the American people , and give their propaganda air time. Media helps him by doing this, and ABC picking spicer means many will not watch their show, and be watching other networks. Very poor choice for ABC.

Other right-wingers were former political dolts. Spicer was in a position where truth is expected. In fact, he became famous as a liar in a position of incredible responsibility. That’s like a doctor who becomes famous because he killed the most patients on the operating table.

Spicer’s fame as a right-winger is someone who stands for the principle the media is a liar and collecting a paycheck fraudulently, telling lies when he was entrusted to tell Americans the truth about their government.

That isn’t funny, it’s disgraceful and dangerously stupid. Not fucking entertaining and throwing money at him for doing that is programming against your own interests. ABC can do it, but they won’t last long if they do.

Look at the Kardashians (please, because I won't). They're famous for.......... what exactly? Andy Warhol's comment about fame seems to be coming true. Americans have sunk to new lows in their search for 'entertainment' I guess. They elevate the lowest and loosest people to 'star' status simply because they're on TV or the internet for longer than a 24 hr. news cycle.

Anyone connected with the Trump shit-show is now considered a 'star' according to these rules of celebrity. I'm glad everyone in the U.S. hasn't caught this disease. Right-wingers, the most poorly educated of those in the U.S., seem particularly susceptible to this phenomenon.

This criminal Presidency is a direct result of the MSM gushing and fawning all over themselves to "normalize" a complete waste of humanity in Donald J. Trump. In 2016, Trump was given hours and hours of free air time while Hillary was constantly pounded and criminalized by the MSM. The MSM is the problem, certainly not the solution.
