On MSNBCs Up with David Gura, Princeton University African American studies professor Eddie Glaude harshly criticized President Donald Trump for his inability to discuss world issues at the G7 summit, saying that not only is he unprepared for diplomatic negotiations, he doesnt even understand how alliances work in general.
For Donald Trump, its always a matter of winners and losers, not a matter of friends and enemies. Its what have you done for me lately.
The notion of alliance that emerged out of the post-World War II era, that brought this era of peace, has been tossed to the side by Trump, added Glaude. When you combine that with Trump's utter ignorance, I mean, lets just be clear. Trump's a collection of stupidity.
Let me add this, too, when you saw the lunch, Macron laid out his G7 agenda,
and Trump sat there talking about the beautiful weather, said Glaude. Hes completely out of his depth. Trump has no clue what to do while at the G7."

(14,969 posts)Hes completely out of his depth. Trump has no clue what to do while at the G7." It's not just the G7, it is true for everything.
Most of the time Trump says something crazy about the topic of the day, it is because he has nothing useful to say about it -- because he's always way out of his depth, utterly clueless about what the status of everything is, what his options are, what the consequences of those choices are, and what he should be doing. On EVERY policy topic. So he babbles and bullshits and ultimately says a lot of empty word stew with a dollop of crazy on top.

(6,831 posts)Well at least this time, he won't be able to push Dusko Markovic out of the way. Markovic was the Prime Minister of Montenegro that trumpie shoved aside at a NATO conference. When he was called out for that by another head of state, he snottily replied, "That's YOUR way." Then he puffed himself up, jutted out his chin and stood there like he was the only important person in the room.
What a boor.

(22,129 posts)where, I don't actually hear words coming out of his mouth, I actually hear 'la la la la, la la la la la. La la la etc.', in other words, not a damn thing (pardon the language). This guy shows off his competence on a hourly basis by demonstrating how stupid he actually is. I am surprised that someone hasn't come up with a show that would sort of parallel 'are you smarter than a 5th grader?'
In the new rump reality show I'm proposing, the show would be titled 'Is DJT actually as dump as he really is?'
The show would have plenty of examples to draw upon.

(4,291 posts)Everyone else at this meeting is focused on climate. As in global (and possibly irreversible) climate change. And the best that Putins bitch can manage is a comment about the local weather?
Even as more tropical weather systems form including the one threatening south and central Florida thats all he has to say?!? And its only just August!
I wish that over his head was just an expression here. As in, during his next visit to his S. FL. resort, the storm surge would rise over his head. But there are way too many coastal residents who dont have Secret Service and other federal resources standing by to keep their shoes and socks dry. Meanwhile, nature wreaks her revenge on the rest of us.

But instead, he insists on going on at length, babbling for an hour or more, endlessly repeating the same meaningless generalizations:
"We're gonna do great. It'll be terrific. We have a great plan. You'll be surprised at how terrific it'll be. We have a lot of great, terrific people working on this amazing plan. They're really great, amazing people. Just terrific, really terrific."

I shit you not. On the first trip abroad he apparently came unglued that he couldn't get Fox on the hotel TV, so in order to placate the 12 year old in chief, they make sure now that there are 3 or more TV's and an American style receiver/channel lineup.

(61,622 posts)We've been spiraling down as U.S. culture embraced the idea that stupid, lazy people are better than smart, hard working people. First it was the preference to "have a beer with" W. Bush rather than vote for actually smart, accomplished people like Al Gore and John Kerry. The lazy people who resented the smart kids in school got to take this race to a whole new bottom with Trump.
I hope they're happy with how it's going.

father-in-law was so anti-college that he refused to congratulate my husband when he finally graduated after plugging away for many years at night. There's a "he thinks he's better than me" attitude that goes along with it. Very unfortunate and creates a less informed citizenry.

(61,622 posts)It's gotten much worse during my lifetime. Somehow resentment, laziness and meanness have been elevated as values above hard work and generosity.
It's time that we progressives stop tiptoeing around and start calling this out for what it is.
