Coconut Creek shooting leaves 2 dead, 2 injured -- including police officer

COCONUT CREEK, Fla. - The suspect in the shooting that left two people dead and two injured -- including a police officer -- Saturday morning in Coconut Creek has a history of domestic violence, records show.

Coconut Creek Police Department Chief Albert Arenal said the shooter, whom detectives identified as Jason Roseman, surrendered after he was outnumbered.

The 44-year-old suspect is accused of firing a shotgun at Officer Andrew Renna, who has been with the department for more than four years. He was responding to a 7:05 a.m. 911 call about a stabbing

Broward County court records show the Coconut Creek Police Department arrested Roseman two years ago, Aug. 24, 2017, for domestic battery by strangulation, touch or strike battery and aggravated assault.

In the home where Northwest 42nd Way and Northwest 57th Drive meet, officers reported finding a man's body, a dead pit bull, ammunition and a what appeared to be an improvised explosive device. The SWAT team later identified it as a prop.
