After a new Washington Post report that President Donald Trump has suggested to federal officials that he would pardon them if they broke the law and ignored regulations in order to fast-track construction of his promised southern border wall before the 2020 election, a senior White House official insisted on Wednesday that the president was only "joking."
The Washington Post reported that the president has directed aides to seize private land and disregard environmental rules if needed in order to complete hundreds of miles worth of wall by Election Day in November 2020.
Chants of finish the wall! are common at the presidents campaign rallies, with Trump promising his supporters that over 400 miles of wall will be complete by the end of 2020. As of the end of July, 54 miles worth of wall has been renovated under the president, but the latest information provided shows there has yet to be any new construction in areas where a barrier did not previously exist.
"Were going to have over 400 miles of wall built, much of it is already started, by the end of next year, and well conclude it pretty shortly thereafter. Well have the whole thing sealed up and it will be a lot easier, the president told a rally in Florida on May 8.

(12,712 posts)I have heard it used more than once. That's a lie for the liar.
Often, there are practical jokes and certain forms of cruel humor that are merely disguised or excused as "just a joke". We all might notice that slapstick in no longer in vogue which was a popular form of humor during the Vaudeville days and it is exemplified by The Three Stooges. Oh, and I am not criticizing them. That form of humor was crude for its time, but one of the reasons for it may have been a form of catharsis in regards to forms of violence and abuse in day-to-day life.
When someone who behaves and acts deplorably in a high office and makes jokes that significantly impact our state of the union and people's lives, health and livelihood, joking is neither an excuse nor acceptable.
So, stop that White House officials. You become the real brunt of "the joke" when you attempt to cover for a truly Fascist leader who is pathetic, not funny. We are not going to laugh our way into the darkness of his obese shadow.
