May have? A single source that has not actually seen the documents?

The last thing you want to do is immunize Trump like Bush was from his National Guard record.

Only one of the two has said there was an "error in judgment"

Also - O'Donnell referred to the source as "close to" the bank... not someone who worked for the bank.

Deutsche Bank is declining to comment on Lawrence O’Donnell’s reporting that Russian oligarch’s co-signed Trump’s loans. The information came from a single source who has not seen the bank records. NBC has not seen those records and has not yet been able to verify the reporting.

Obama actually was forced to release his birth certificate to quell the madness (though to GOP/Trump loyalists it was never enough).

Trump gets away with allowing absolutely nothing getting released. No taxes, no WH testimony, no or arbitrary voluntary compliance with Presidential records act, no data for gains/losses with regards to emoluments, no medical records, no Melania immigration paperwork, etc.

Democrats should be screaming.

Of course NBC should standby Lawrence O’Donnell and his reporting...enough of the hypocrisy of cable news... grow a set, and let the Americans clamoring for truth know that you stand for accountability in our government.

Other documents, like the loan agreement, might show that. But Tax Returns likely would not.

While I want trump gone, I'd rather Democrats do it with verifiable evidence, not some hastily sourced story that should never have been released without verification.

He mentioned tax returns in the context of reporting that Trump reported very little income (at that this wasn't surprising). The bombshell claim was based on supposed loan documents.

On edit - He "didn't" base the claim on tax returns. Obviously he did "blow it"/

The paragraph says two separate things - (1) he pays very little income tax per his tax returns and (2) his loans have Russian co-signers. He did not say that the loans were listed in the tax returns

I had a problem with it last night when he said it, given the number of caveats the attack to it.

When he said, "We only have one source and we have not independently confirmed this," I wondered, "if you don't have this confirmed, why are you talking about it? Go get confirmation and then come back and tell us about it. if you can't pin it down, don't talk about it on television."
