Just received facebook message - I used to like your posts but you have become so political

I responded with
Ok, Goodbye

and unfriended

That is one republican that will not come into the light and away from the dark side

I have posted more this week than usual because I try to avoid it

I check to see if people have dropped

I just keep hoping some voters will come into the light and only vote democrats this fall

I had a friend post something to the effect that she is going to delete anything political that is liked or shared by others. I replied, "It's your FB page, do as you like and I will do as I like."

if that's the way they feel, that's their choice.

I have adjusted some "FB friends" posts along the way without un-friending them. Simply hiding their posts or changing the importance of their posts showing up on my newsfeed seems to work out really well. I don't mind if they have radically different viewpoints (I can hide those individual posts quickly). What drives me crazy are the "I just had a cheese sandwich" postings. I simply don't need to know everything that everyone does in their life.

I have done it to a couple Teabaggers that I am really surprised turned out that way in life. When I knew them, we were all hippies forty years ago.

you can make the adjustments and no one is the wiser.

It is indeed Your page and you can do with it as you please.

I really try to not un-friend people, simply adjust the importance of their posts. If I would miss something of great importance, well, thems is the breaks.

so no, I don't get that political. I made an exception to that this week. There is an ice rink in hell this week, and piggies are flying... FOX blogger called Ryan on the fibs

Maybe you could have answered with a statement over why you think politics is so important.

9. My problem is a family member

Who has posted a generic complaint about family members sending her political stuff in email that conflicts with her views. It was a rather negative post and since our family is very small, it is apparent she was talking about an email my husband sent to her. The reason he sent it in private email was to keep it off of FB. She is the one who posted about it on FB. And made negative comments about family members who send her things. (She didn't mention it was a private email so I am sure it confused some people who read her post.)

This has been very hurtful to us personally. The reason my husband sent her the information (it was about the lies in Ryan's speech and was a FOX news piece since we thought she might find it more credible.)was so she and our son could think about some of our concerns for the changes Romney/Ryan have in mind for Medicare, medicaid and Social Security. That will impact us personally in the near and long term. It will affect our son and DIL, too. It was simply meant to give them something to consider. We know their vote is THEIR vote. They have a right to their opinions, which right now are HARD, right wing conservative. Very religious, too. But we wanted them to know why we have concerns and want them to base their decisions on balanced and accurate information.

I have not decided what to do about my FB page. I am inclined to delete it but not sure if I want to do that since that is one way I know what is going on with my grandchildren. MY DIL does not email much and has a blog but posts sporadically. FB is where most of the information and pictures of Grandchildren end up. Guess I could hide her posts, but that means hiding pictures, too.

It's a dilemma. One happy thought. They live in Mississippi and their vote won't matter. Mississippi will go red with or without them. I live in Florida. MY vote does matter. FL could go blue if we get around the suppression. So I will happily vote for Obama and try not to worry too much how they vote since, in the end, it simply doesn't matter that much how THEY vote.
