Just now on MSNBC. Asked about the rumor that Nancy (or the Reagan hologram) was going to be the "Special Guest." Said that he was "of a mind to watch" last night but after Paul Ryan's speech didn't want to see his father associated with "this Republican party, THESE Republicans," and in response to a question from Roberts. said the Reagan hologram WOULD HAVE overshadowed Romney.

(30,885 posts)...but yes, whatever he "created" led directly to what's out there right now. They ALL claim to drink from the well of All Things Ronnie. Whether it's what Reagan intended is a different matter, and may be irrelevant. He was who he was and the modern party is what it is.

(1 post)IF they had had a hologram of George Romney it would have overshadowed Mitt... the boy is not even one quarter the Man his father was.

(43,182 posts)....but his father did have a big hand in setting the current state of GOP affairs in motion. Yes, others since him have excaserbated the problem exponentally, and perhaps Reagan might be seen as tame compared to some of today's conservatives, but the man cannot be held blameless or as an example of an old-school conservative (who themselves were not necessarily admirable, either. Barry Goldwater was a racist fearmonger.)

(2,900 posts)and I suppose he should not be blamed for looking at his father's legacy with distorted and loving vision, but Jr. doesn't really seem to remember all the political things his father did and said. The modern GOP is very Ronald Reagan Sr.'s party.
