Trump's Trade Mayhem Hurts the Working-Class People He Claims to Love

Truck Drivers, Railway Workers, Stevedores and Other Blue-Collar Workers Are Bearing the Brunt of His Trade Policies

By David Cay Johnston, DCReport Editor-in-Chief

The poorly educated are about to learn just how little Donald Trump loves them. His gratuitous trade mayhem is damaging the global economy.

That means workers in jobs requiring no more than a high school diploma may soon get let go from jobs moving goods. Longshoremen, railroad workers, teamsters, the lumpers who load trailers, warehouse workers, and retail clerks are all at risk of being forced into unemployment.

Will these millions of workers grasp that Trump is abusing them to satisfy his whims? Or will they react more like battered spouses who keep returning for more abuse because they cannot see the harsh reality of their situation?

During the 2016 primary races, Trump declared “I love the poorly educated.” At rally after rally he used the word “love” to sell the idea that he would champion what he later called the “forgotten man.”

the first thing one notices is,the make up of a train. Secondly is it a East Bound or West Bound meaning handling freight for overseas shipments. First noticed Trains were becoming double in length on West Bounds, and especially noticeable was,the Container Trains were returning mostly empty Cans to the West Coast Ports for shipment back to China.

And for those East Bounders, lots of single stacked Container Trains. Same for the Auto Racks. Something major is a foot, not looking good for the Rail Guy's.

It is important to hear from "one on the ground" as opposed to those sending out smoke-screen BS.
What you are seeing will not show up for months but you are seeing live facts. Then again, when did "live facts" ever matter to IQ45 or the Repugs?

Yeah, lots of grain cars and coal cars sitting on old sidings does not project a pretty picture........

Coal Hoppers shut down two weeks ago due to demand. The Company that makes Grain hoppers has scaled way back. Thousands of idled Locos parked in out of the way Sidings and little used Rail Yards. That is causing a major disruption with GE,EMD,and Caterpillar.

Sad to say, many a Railroad Employee are now on Furlow not to be called back in time to save their Rights.
