"It's hard to see the bar anymore since it's been pushed so far down the last few years, but President Trump's behavior over the weekend was a new low."
That was the assessment an FBI agent who works in counterintelligence gave Insider of President Donald Trump's performance at this year's G7 summit in Biarritz, France. The agent requested anonymity because they feared that speaking publicly on the matter would jeopardize their job.
Trump's attendance at the G7 summit was peppered with controversy, but none was more notable than his fervent defense of Russia's military and cyber aggression around the world, and its violation of international law in Ukraine.
Trump repeatedly refused to hold Russia accountable for annexing Crimea in 2014, blamed former President Barack Obama for Russia's move to annex it, expressed sympathy for Russian President Vladimir Putin, and castigated other G7 members for not giving the country a seat at the table.

(4,029 posts)At some point, you have to wonder what is the point in intelligence protecting methods and keeping things classified if the intel is never used.

(14,575 posts)to hack the DNC/Hillary when he was running?
OR, doing a back slapping PR event in the Oval Office with Russians and only russian media covering it?
It is one of a 1,000,000 ways this country has exposed itself as morally and ethically empty, but putting a CLEAR russian asset into the white house is mind bending.
It was apparent long before he took office

(10,216 posts)So, why didn't they do something about it before putting the Russian asset in charge?
Couldn't they have put out a letter on Traitor Trump? Why were they so willing to put out letters on Hillary but kept very quiet about a known Russian asset?
Did RepubliCONS in the FBI really sell out our democracy so that some filthy rich people could get richer?

(58,785 posts)things Trump hasn't folded like a wet paper towel on. And of those, the Republican leadership and those they serve need to allow him to yammer about his wall and persecute vulnerable people because it keeps the dangerous, "red in tooth and claw" base they all fear from turning on them. But everything else has not just been abandoned but actively betrayed, including the base's national healthcare which is to be permanently destroyed because the RW powers are determined on that.
Which leaves ONLY Russia. An incredibly weak and disordered man who simply cannot be strong or consistent has always been both for Putin. Of course, wanting to be a dictator, smash laws and hurt people are explained by mental disorder. But outside pressure is the only explanation anyone can come up with for this consistency that he's wholly incapable of on his own.

(13,776 posts)His position changes daily/hourly on practically everything but the wall (which is probably Stephen Miller) and Russia. Hes been compulsively pro-Russian for four years, especially the past three. That consistency is so completely out of character for him.

I think he did it at risk to his job, because he acts like he got his ass chewed over it. More subdued. Repartee with Rachel is even turned way down.

(1,588 posts)far too long under estimated the cunning and pure evil capabilities of this most of despicable of any human when it directly relates to his personal survival and net worth accumulation. The monster who sits in the whitehouse is a full fledged Russian asset personally guided and managed by Putin, the master spy recruiter among many other things. There can be no other logical conclusion.

So why would anyone assume that the sex tapes of Donald in a Moscow hotel room don't exist? That's all the leverage that Putin needs and he's using it to the maximum to control his orange puppet.
