https://www.politicalflare.com/2019/08/jim-bakker-warns-his-flock-that-christian-leaders-and-republicans-will-die-if-trump-loses-in-2020/Jim Bakker, otherwise known as half of disgraced 80s televangelist power couple Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker (remember the extreme eyelashes?) has spent the past decade and a half quietly rebuilding his empire after serving nearly five years of a 45-year prison sentence (for fraud and conspiracy-related charges) from 1989 to 1994.
This is totally separate from the drugging and rape allegations from actress/secretary Jessica Hahn which had previously derailed his career in 1987.
Currently, it should come as very little surprise that the reformed Bakker is back at his crazy lies, now as a staunch supporter of Donald Trump and spewing dangerous rhetoric.
In a sermon recently flagged by Right Wing Watch, Bakker told his followers that if Trump doesnt get reelected in 2020, that leaders of the gospel and the political conservative leaders are going to be murdered.
By who?
Im guessing AOC and the other women in Congress who Trump supporters chant send them back at rallies about? The deep state? Im sure Hillary Clinton is involved somehow as well. Who knows with these nutcases.
In a preface to his remarks, Bakker claimed that Trump was elected against all odds because Gods people voted, and the world knows it, the enemies of the gospel know it.
Im going to say something I probably shouldnt say, he continued, which is about the only part of his diatribe most people would actually agree with.
Whats coming next, if we keep losing, youre going to see the leaders of the church and the leaders of the gospel and the political conservative leaders that are powerful, you are going to see them suddenly die, suddenly killed. Suddenly as they were driving, suddenly as they were in a boat, suddenly in an airplane Youre going to see it one after another.

NOT encouraging anyone to cause that to happen, mind you.
Just, if he HAPPENS to 'suddenly die' ... you know ... fine by me.
Everybody's gotta go sometime ...

(18,770 posts)19972007: Later life and illness
In July 2007, on more solid financial footing, the Messners relocated to Loch Lloyd, Missouri, a suburb of Kansas City. Jim Bakker had relocated his operations to Branson, Missouri, in 2003. Tammy Faye told Entertainment Tonight they had moved to the "dream house" to be closer to Roe's children and grandchildren from his first marriage. The children still live in the Wichita area.
As her second husband was jailed and she was first diagnosed with colon cancer, she re-entered the public eye in a series of books, movies and television appearances.
She was the subject of a documentary titled The Eyes of Tammy Faye (1999), which was narrated by RuPaul,[8] and a follow-up film titled Tammy Faye: Death Defying (2004).
She appeared twice on The Drew Carey Show in 1996 and 1999, playing the mother of character Mimi Bobeck (Kathy Kinney), who was also known for wearing excessive amounts of makeup. On September 11, 2003, she published a new autobiography, I Will Survive... and You Will, Too!, in which she described her battles with cancer and her life with Messner.
Despite her background in Christian fundamentalism, Tammy Faye became a gay icon after her parting from PTL, appearing in Gay Pride marches with such figures as Lady Bunny and Bruce Vilanch. Unlike many American Christian fundamentalists she "had long refused to denounce homosexuals" and also expressed compassion towards, and urged support for Americans with HIV/AIDS when it was still a much feared and unknown disease. In the 1980s she interviewed an AIDS patient on her program, "making an impassioned plea to Christians to love and accept their gay brethren." She was benevolently referred to as "the ultimate drag queen," and said in her last interview with Larry King that, "When I went when we lost everything, it was the gay people that came to my rescue, and I will always love them for that."
In early 2004 she appeared on the second season of the VH1 reality television series The Surreal Life. The show chronicled a twelve-day period wherein she, Ron Jeremy, Vanilla Ice, Traci Bingham, Erik Estrada, and Trishelle Cannatella lived together in a Los Angeles house and were assigned various tasks and activities.[27]
Together, the six put on a children's play and managed a restaurant for a day. She also attended a book signing for her best-seller, I Will Survive... And You Will Too.
At the end of the show, Messner said she thought of Vanilla Ice and Trishelle Cannatella as children and could relate to them deeply because she had similar feelings and problems when she was their age.

Jim, on the other hand, remains a scumbag.

(156 posts)in the 80's for the Christmas lights. They were awesome to be honest. I knew Jim and Tammy were scumbags but the gf's family loved them. Luckily her parents were too poor to feed the beast. There is a guy on the tube now always asking for seed money to make sure God rewards you. It always reminds me of Jesus throwing the moneychangers out of the temple or saying it was easier for a camel to go through the eye of needle than a rich man to enter heaven. I guess the shysters make sure to forget this while trying to fleece the flock.

(16,296 posts)I love how he hawks his air conditioners, power packs, survival food, etc., etc. in between promoting a book. The guy is pure scum and circus barker. He also seems a bit desperate in his appeals for money and gives the hint his "ministry" - laff out loud - is in need of money.
He recently had a guest speaker who tried to prove that Trump was God's choice and he had seven proofs. The first one was that Trump is sooooo rich that he could join exclusive clubs where the decision makers were - and that would benefit all Americans.
At that point, I switched channels.

(12,504 posts)Couple of times a month I'll DVR an episode, and I always seem to catch a very special guest with a pipeline to God, and how Trump is God's choice for any number of reasons that would cause DU'ers to dry heave.
But, the mac and cheese in the 5 gallon tub that has a 25 year shelf life sure looks like a mouth-watering treat, while waiting for the outside nuclear radiation to leak in and kill me.

(5,240 posts)population that WILL get out and vote for him. They are a highly motivated cult. If the dems can't get a vast majority of people in states like Florida and Pennsylvania out to vote we are screwed. It's the electoral college that counts and we need states that went for 45 in 2016 and that means motivating the 60% of the population that aren't cultists to get off their butts and vote. This is going to be a very close election in terms of the electoral college.
