Hes busy selling that and not talking to anybody, said Hirshan, who emphasized that nobody speaks for Mr. Eastwood but Eastwood himself, who does not have a publicist. The media black-out has nothing to do with Thursday nights speech but was established weeks ago, he added.
And when he does talk? Hes speaking about the picture not everything else.

Got that, no talking except about his upcoming picture. Last night never happened. It was a figment of the chairs imagination.
On edit: The chairs manager just contacted the media and said it is available for interviews and willing to field all questions for Mr. Eastwood.

(20,136 posts)Look at all the free publicity he's getting now for his movie (at the expense of Romney and the Repubs, of course).

(28,158 posts)I didn't even know about his new picture until yesterday. Now I know it's name and general plot.
Not bad for 7 minutes at the RNC.

(20,277 posts)He's not a doddering old man like some are saying.
He punked them but good.
Lone_Star_Dem
(28,158 posts)He said some pretty horrific things last night. If anyone else would have said them we'd all be screaming "dogwhistle" and "liar." However, since he's elderly, and a popular Hollywood figure, we're trying to find excuses.
His people took the risk, and it would appear for the most part they were right. It worked. He's popular enough for his fans to get past this.
NYC Liberal
(20,136 posts)it was all at the expense of Romney and the Repubs. Now, I don't think he went there to intentionally upstage Romney. But I do think his main purpose was promoting his movie and he just so happened to overshadow everyone else doing it.
Lone_Star_Dem
(28,158 posts)When he did endorse Romney earlier this month it didn't get a lot of buzz. So, what's a hardworking Hollywood actor to do to get some attention, why speak at the RNC of course.
Makes sense to me anyway.
NYC Liberal
(20,136 posts)Not much better, mind you. But better than this.

(28,158 posts)She actually did do much better at their convention than any of this years speakers.
I'm speaking in terms of ratings and polling only, of course.
NYC Liberal
(20,136 posts)so I don't think she'd get the same kind of attention. But I do think at worst she'd have been a net neutral...she'd have added nothing but also wouldn't have made it worse.

(12,409 posts)I thought he was doing his best to impress the gop crowd for that moment. Yea, he knew it would get press chatter for a day or two. Do you think there is a bigger plan? I'm Curious.

(90,061 posts)I have trouble seeing a man like him being that befuddled on stage, but he is in his eighties, and it happens, so I just don't know.
I am mainly persuaded by the things he said, if you read them they are not conservative views, but that could be confusion on his part.
And now he won't talk about it. Hmm.
The thing is, he is going to be out in public selling his film, so we will be able to judge better then how much it was an act or an accident.

So, the chair can't just talk off "of the cuff" like the divan can?
No wonder then that chair seemed so repressed last night.
They had chair's arms tied behind chair's back, metaphorically speaking, of course.
