(CNN) A series of new firearm laws go into effect in Texas on Sunday, just hours after a shooting left seven people dead in the western part of the state.
The laws will further loosen gun restrictions in a state that's had four of the 10 deadliest mass shootings in modern US history, including the El Paso shooting last month, when a gunman stormed a Walmart and killed 22 people.
The new measures were all passed during the 2019 legislative session, which ended in June.

There is no other solution other than increasing the number of guns on our highways.

I recently asked a Republican friend just what number of dead bodies he feels will it take to address the problem of guns in America. 20,000, 50,000, 100,000? As a separate issue, I asked how many dead children need to be piled up on a heap before he thinks something should be done?
Answer? Deflection of the question. No point on my part in pursuing beyond the initial questions.
The trouble is, everything is getting more intense by the day. The remedy to these problems will be monumental, as our divide is what currently defines us, and each side is unwilling to budge.
We need a strong charismatic, intelligent leader in America - one who can in some way, win the trust of the country with common sense and true leadership.
