right to rampage and murder at will? she asked sarcastically.

So long as the right to own a gun, and perhaps rampage and murder at will, is seen as more important than another person's right to remain alive or unmaimed, nothing will change. I can think of a scenario that might possible cause real action, but to suggest that something like that occur would make me seem calloused beyond redemption, or worse yet to be encouraging of such a thing.

Which I'm not. Not calloused beyond redemption nor would I encourage any such thing.

But for me Sand Hook was the real turning point. If someone going into a school and killing all those children didn't give us real gun control, just give a little thought to what would be needed. And unfortunately, it's not going to be the drip drip drip of the current pace of two or three mass shootings every month. It's going to need to be something so incredibly shocking that even the true gun nuts will get it.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, a nonprofit that tracks shootings in the US, there have been 255 shootings in 2019 so far. To put this into perspective, August 5 is the 217th day of the year, meaning that by their definition, the US has had more mass shootings than days in 2019

I just remember being shocked at how many there were in 2019 by early August, so I scrolled down your list to see 2019 and was surprised at how small it was. So I searched for the list I had seen.

They’ve increased every year he’s been president. This year may well be a record, unfortunately.

The wave is cresting. I just wrote a scathing letter to my NRA A-rated state senator, and this afternoon am canvassing for his Nov. 5th opponent in Virginia.

the SENATE Republicans and Moscow Mitch who are the ones not doing anything to stop the free flow of guns in this country. NOT the CONGRESS. The Congress refers to the whole legislative body which includes the House of Representatives and the Senate. Small wonder that the "Congress" which includes the House gets to be included in terrible ratings right along with the Senate. They ought to be rated separately and named individually as to their action or inaction in dealing with issues facing this country.

You can tell I really resent it, also, when the media says the Congress is not doing their job. All Democratic candidates should be pointing out, daily, exactly who is or isn't doing their job.
