Whether he does or not, the religious right has come up with it's own quasi- "Christian" idol to put in its place. Virtually every New Testament tenet put forth has been replaced with greed, tribalism, hatred and bigotry, violence, punishment of perceived enemies, neglect of those in need, hypocrisy where convenient, premeditated cruelty, ends justifying means (including strategic lying), and plundering the planet and species that occupy it since, well, Jesus is coming anyway!

red flag laws? If a woman calls the police and says her husband is acting nuts, drinking and is threatening her with his gun, shouldn't it be just fine to take said gun away until the situation is resolved? Last week there was a story in the local paper about police taking 9 guns away from a felon. A noise complaint came in and they found the guy shooting in a gravel pit. The girlfriend (and a small child) were in the car and she told police the guy likes to shoot to "calm himself down." I guess the idiot Texas legislator would allow the felon to keep his arsenal and tell the people around him to pray.

The El Paso murderer was also from East Texas (Allen). If I remember correctly, in 2016 an East Texas woman (former teacher!) claimed that Obama had been a male stripper and was a drug dealer. East Texas has the most right-wing crazies of any part of the state, so nothing surprises me coming from the people in this area.

Replacing guns with a sense of security is a possible solution to removing all guns. Right wing will oppose because of the cost. Left wing will oppose a police state.
