Last night a doctor in TX said we all should take classes in treating

victims of a mass shooting, like how to stop bleeding, differentiate wounds, etc.

"...at the news conference following this shooting was the emergency physician (an Iraq war veteran with 10 years served) was that Americans everywhere do like the hospital in Odessa has done — prepare for a mass casualty event. Every man, woman and child needs to be prepared to offer help to the victims for Life Support and other emergency measures, It sickened me to hear him say that because he was admitting that these events will continue and no one is safe. His quote....not a matter of IF but WHEN".

Is this good advice that we should all take seriously and consider this training? Should this be training for all Americans like CPR and the Heimlich Maneuvers? Or is this part of "normalizing" this issue? I certainly don't want to think that this is the approach we should take going forward. Isn't pressuring the Senate and our reps and voting to stop the guns a better goal?

Not sure how it is spelled.

He was talking to everyone as if we are in the military. He was full of himself.

He pissed me off.

and Sandy Hook happened a year before I had to leave the profession for health reasons. I had to get myself prepared (on my own I did this) for a shooter entering my classroom. I did that for years before it became mandatory. No way would I go through treating a wound. I draw the line. I wanted to teach, not be an EMT! Get rid of guns, don't train people to be battlefield doctors in everyday life in the US. This should NOT be the norm or the goal of citizens in the US.

For one thing, I refuse to buy into the idiocy that shootings are normal. For another, how the fuck am I (a 71 year old woman) supposed to learn this? And why should I?

Here's a better suggestion: TAKE THE FUCKING GUNS AWAY.

I am so sick of the justification for gun ownership that I want to do serious damage to those who support that.
