AFL-CIO Chief Lashes Trump Administration For Hurting American Workers
Our members are still waiting for the supposed greatness of this economy to reach their kitchen tables, Richard Trumka told Chris Wallace on Fox News.
Our members are still waiting for the supposed greatness of this economy to reach their kitchen tables, Richard Trumka told Chris Wallace on Fox News.
The president of the AFL-CIO union federation told Fox News Chris Wallace on Sunday that the Trump administration has done more things to hurt workers than to help them comments that elicited angry tweets from President Donald Trump.
Richard Trumka, head of the group that includes 55 different unions, said wages are being swamped by rising health care and housing costs, and that Trump is botching his trade war with China.
Trump has also opposed every effort to increase the minimum wage and has stripped safety standards that used to protect workers, Trumka said.
Ive tried to call balls and strikes with him, he said, referring to Trump. When he does something thats good for workers, I say so. When he does something thats bad for workers, I say so. And I have to say, unfortunately, while he may not even know what his administration is doing, theyve done more things to hurt workers than they have to help them.
Trump on Monday morning tweeted his displeasure with Trumka, saying union members should stop paying dues and vote for him in 2020. ....

(12,712 posts)1. I tend to parse what people say,
I don't understand the lame wording this guy is using.
The president of the AFL-CIO union federation told Fox News Chris Wallace on Sunday that the Trump administration has done more things to hurt workers than to help them comments that elicited angry tweets from President Donald Trump.
I looked at the article and I didn't see any reference to the things Tramp has done to help the workers, so was it necessary to put it that way? Is that accurate at all?
When he does something thats good for workers, I say so. When he does something thats bad for workers, I say so. And I have to say, unfortunately, while he may not even know what his administration is doing, theyve done more things to hurt workers than they have to help them.
So, what things did he do for the workers, (I know of none so far) that you let him know was good, and if you are talking to somebody that doesn't have a cockroach's clue as to what is going on, why do you even talk to him in the first place? I would expect a more scathing response for the sake of workers, considering the stakes. Plus, he believed in Tramp's promises? That's incredible.
He sounds like more of an enabler or supporter than an avid advocate for the workers. If he wants to be effective, he better sound like less of an ass kisser and more of a strong, effective critic. Do they need a new president? We do!

(70,652 posts)2. Yip, sounds namby pamby, because can't be too extreme in resistance, will be accused of stuff.
Whereas SHITLER and his flying monkeys can flaunt all norms. Plus, aren't a significant number in unions in the Raygun-"Dems" mold, who Michael MOORE understands all too well?

That is what the Trumps should change their name to when they move to Russia. It's much more fitting.

take a look at your dues paying members. While you were calling Balls and Strikes, your membership has been taking one hit after another. Seen this ugly movie before, and it did not end well for the Teamsters. But,Nixon got his votes.
