Latest from NOAA: Dorian has began to move; strengthening; may not make landfall in US.

After remaining stationary for 12 hours, Dorian has began to move at 1 mph NW. Sustained winds have strengthened back to 120 mph. Current median projection avoids landfall in US.

Although the official forecast does not show Dorian making landfall
along the Florida east coast, users are reminded not to forecast on
the exact forecast track. A relatively small deviation to the
left of this track could bring the core of the hurricane near or
over the coastline.

The coast will get some rain and wind, but nothing it shouldn't be able to withstand.

People in north Grande Bahamas might have entered public shelters 60 hours ago.

Is something many places can't handle, especially the Low Country of South Carolina. Charleston area leads the country in the building of new homes, on floodplains...one might have thought that after Matthew, some light bulb would have lit.... but NO!

Hurricanes are by nature unpredictable, this one is particular. I think we can rule out a direct hit on Mar-a-lago

It looks like South Carolina will get a surge of 6 or 7 ft, but parts of North Carolina could get up to 10 feet.
