Many Republicans sit in seats that require a 4% to 7% margin of victory for their opponent to take their seat, if they even have an opponent from the opposition party. While I do not claim to know much about Parliamentary elections, I seriously doubt that there is Gerrymandering to the extent that there is in US Representative elections. While the Senate elections are state wide and not subject to Gerrymandering, there is still the issue of incumbency and millions in PAC money that Republicans holding office have as an advantage to any challenger.

I actually think that the Senate is in serious play this cycle but to the point, Republicans in the US only have to know who bought them their seat and how to cheat well enough to eek through a victory.

Until the GOP bas turns against Trump the GOP legislatures will be licking his boots.

Much for the most part was true with W until 2006. There were a few that had gravitas in their district who could go against the President. I don't think there is a sing GOP legislator left with that type of gravitas.

They are afraid of primary challenges and that the people who actually fund their campaigns will turn against them. People on the Progressive side of the Democratic coalition talk about being "captured" by moneyed interests... this is exactly what is happening here.

Unless there is a complete paradigm shift, we will always be dealing with people who have riches or who get rich, wanting more and trying to game or take over the system to get more riches and power.

I agree that Trump will ultimately lose favor with the wealthy because he is destabilizing the flow of business, but while there is money to be made, most of them will stay quiet and wait.

There's no British equivalent for the NRA as far as I know.
So the evil dark money in the UK must be coming from Putin.
