When you look at utter devastation like that scene, and you know there were few safe places for residents to seek shelter from such a powerful storm, the consequences are cataclysmic. Many will have disappeared, washed away, never to be seen again.

and is expected to weaken again slightly overnight. At this point whether it's a 2 or a 3 is academic, the effects along the Carolina coastline will be significant...

No fun sitting through a tropical storm, never mind a hurricane. Yes, I heard it's going to get rugged there.

I feel for them. I just dodged a big hairy bullet of the same name.

I really wish they had. My sister in law said they had nowhere to take their 3 rescue Great Danes...they live in a multimillion dollar home...at least they have a second and third floor. Dorian visited you as well?

lived through 10 days of weather updates and worries. Took all precautions I could, and am happy to report all is well here.

I’m really getting tired of winter up here in the north country...moving snow 5+ months a year is hard and yet, I wouldn’t trade it for hurricanes. The stress! So glad to hear you weathered it okay.
