And it certainly shouldn't be invading other countries to make the point.

But the populace can be scared into supporting the fucking WOD over and over and over again just by saying "think of the children!!!!!!!!!"

about the "War on Drugs" that was so vaguely worded it basically gave the US carte blanche to use any means and any combination of means to fight the "drug war" in any country that would allow it. The level of drug war expansion included in that bill was shocking to me.

When I questioned it I was quickly shouted down by people who hadn't even read the bill.

It just goes to show how far removed from reality they all are in Washington. They have been losing the drug war for 3 decades now, all they have managed to do is make the illegal drug trade more profitable and more dangerous, yet no one seems to recognize this.

people & rival dealers.

so they're really winning, because the use of even hard drugs is more visible than ever in my lifetime.

i have heroin addicts in my neighborhood. one of my friends kids died from a methadone OD. nice kid, 'good' family. it's everywhere.

I saw it in the early '90s during the first Gulf War. Now we have it again. During Viet Nam, heroin flooded the streets and became the drug of choice after a decade of psychedelics.

Interesting little factoid: when the "Taliban" (Bogeymen of the Month) were in charge, they eradicated the poppy production. Now it's gangbusters.

What a coincidink...

read that the civil war produced the first wave of modern 'drug addiction' -- morphine addicts).

i'm one who believes that illegal drug sales are used to fund covert ops. call me a conspiracy theorist, i don't care.
