(3,501 posts)If the 2016 election showed us anything, it's that there are far too many low IQ Americans and that the people who vote have little to no grasp of domestic or foreign policy
Sharpiegate is something even the simple-minded can grasp and understand is bad in a President.

(38,419 posts)and for the exact reason that was given..."Sharpiegate is something even the simple-minded can grasp and understand is bad in a President"
Trump has lied a number of times about this one. He could have said, "I made a mistake" end of story.
but one lie on top of another on top of another, proves to most, that he really is a stupid liar on top of a liar
Trump needs to lie on top of a lie to prove he was right. No matter how stupid it looks.

(5,770 posts).... we are dealing with a personality cult, not a rational policy debate. For many, many voters, ridiculing the great leader will turn them off. They may not vote rationally, but, second best, they may lose enthusiasm and just not vote.

(17,276 posts)I call it the Trump horror of the Day game. Theres always something new, but really all part of the same thing: a malignant narcissist damaging the country for his own sick needs.
I get outrage fatigue and this helps a bit. Just expect it daily.

(11,558 posts)And giving them a death sentence. The profit-driven MSM is often worse than a cat being distracted with a laser pointer. One would think they would have wised up by now. In reality, they seem to be getting worse with their hyper focus on Trumps petty distractions and their discontinuing coverage on serious issues. Of course, quality, in-depth reporting costs more...

(8,698 posts)the stick figure lying dead on the ground next to the wind turbines, Trump never spending time with his son or grandkids, Trump holding an umbrella over himself and not Melania, how sad Melania usually looks etc. It's like an autiobiography of his life.

(6,423 posts)He just does what he wants that second?
I was really woke when I saw him push the leader of a nation out of the way just so he could stand in front, besides all the fraud and other crap?
No patience to even wait for a world leader to move 1 foot in either direction?
This isn't a genuine man, this is a selfish programmed robot, thank Fred everybody and wave to Vlad, I am sure he's monitoring this too!

(14,173 posts)A variation of The Big Lie. Not one big lie, but a bombardment of scandal, crimes, and misrepresentation every day to the point where there just are not enough hours....even with a 24/7 news cycle.
Although I agree they could do better at it. They do tend to still follow some old quaint news network MO of choosing ONE lead story for the day, or week, and loading up on it. And that feeds right into the right's machinations of keep 'em confused with an overload.

MSM made Trump! Even Morning Joe played up Don the Con up until June 2016, then at that point they began toning it down but it was too late.
We better see some new and enforced laws when this shitshow is over!

(35,285 posts)It was said early on that what will take Trump down won't be a major event or policy
It will be something small - about the size of a Sharpie

(9,953 posts)"the Epstein murder" (Trump fans think Hillary is responsible)
"kidnapped immigrant children" (Trump fans think Obama is responsible)
... you should be correct but... "sharpie-gate" is something they understand. It's all over Facebook and Twitter... I think it's good.

(5,624 posts)i don't know how the media has been covering it. Probably not well. this story is imp bc trump modified an official govt document, doubled down to bend reality, got a govt official to back him, media covers. Exactly what one would do to change election results.

(30,809 posts)It looks very bad - even to the simplest of simpletons - and could help unravel his support. I do not believe this is an intentional diversion, not at all. He is obsessed; he just can't help himself. And it is going to hurt him.

(2,067 posts)Until we show the media we're more interested in important details than salacious stories and memes (ironically, the only thread above you on the Greatest Page is... Memes), they're going to continue to feed us the salacious stories and memes.
Let's be real; if you were a media member looking at DU on the average day, where the top threads are usually rants or short "fuck you Trump" threads, would you think the average user here cares about the serious stories?
