snip of article:
When well-known former Republicans start goading Mitch McConnell with the moniker that clearly has him enraged, you know Moscow Mitchs cover is blown. For years hes been able to keep sliding under the radar, undermining the Senate, flouting the norms and traditions that kept the institution a functioning body, while the wider world paid little attention.
But thats changed. His enthusiastic enabling of this worst, most dangerous president is one thing thats breaking his protective shell. So is his refusal to protect the nation from enemy interference in our elections. But his disregard for human life is the last straw for a lot of people. That includes well-known former Republicans like David Weissman, who used to support McConnell, as well as Trump. In an open letter to Moscow Mitch published Wednesday in The Times of Israel, Weissman told him if you dont like this nickname, do your job.
Whew, we need more of this. Moscow Mitch needs to be accountable for his dirty deeds.

at some point thugs are gonna fight back to avoid going down w the ship.
hopefully it wont work, and they will have to change their name to try to get the stain off. but they will try. it is in the nature of rats to flee a sinking ship.

(58,785 posts)Republicans in congress, especially McConnell. They were outnumbered by the usual suggestions that Trump was the genesis of their evils by himself, but they were still specific, serious criticisms. They also included a video of the same charges from a Fox anchor.
The tide seems to be turning away from enabling destructive RW extremism, at least among some RW talking heads. Maybe consequences are biting them on the nose and making them wonder if their own children, or they themselves, will be able to vote in future.
Maybe what's happening is that it's finally becoming safe to say these things from the middle of the pack. Maybe these people are media equivalents of the retiring congressmen and senators who were part of all that's gone wrong until the day that speaking out against those still there didn't cost them anything. But still, a few of their comments today were different from theirs of the past decade. A few were amazingly honest and responsible.

Might have been from me, cause Ive been applying it - um - liberally - but seriously, there are so many clever minds here that it could have been anyones idea.
I would not be at all surprised if it originated in this-here lil online think tank.

(11,256 posts)He stifled Obama's second term agenda, stole a Supreme Court seat, rammed through two SC Justices and hundreds of other right wing judges. He also passed a destructive tax cut, and shepherded scores of Trump nominees, including an attorney general that killed the Mueller investigation.
I only wish he had failed.

hi:
Hermit-The-Prog
(33,309 posts)I think I started calling him Moscow Mitch when the news about all that money passing through the NRA to his PAC came out.
It's likely I read that name here on DU before adopting it.
Kentucky voters need that moniker stuck in their head in the voting booth.
