(56,828 posts)back in the Bush years and early Obama years, Paul Krugman said that the economy needed to create 150,000 to 175,000 jobs per month just to break even because we have a growing population.
The population has grown over the past 8-12 years, so that "break even" number should be slightly higher still.

(9,959 posts)They did the same types of stories in 2016, pillorying Hillary for any slight thing while obscuring the crazy things Trump did or said. An example I remember (though not the exact words) related to the investigation of the Clinton Foundation and the Trump foundation. The Clinton story headline was something along the lines of Clinton Foundation Being Investigated for Fraud versus Concerns About Trump Foundation. We all know which one was the true fraud.

(10,533 posts)They have some excellent journalists still working there (and I don't mean the Maggie Habermans and Peter Bakers of the world) but Dean Baquet and the rest of their editorial team goes out of their way to spin stories in the most favorable light to conservatives. They have internalized the false-balance mentality to the umpteenth degree.
