McConnell vows to protect Kentucky middle school from Trump's grab for wall funding

(CNN)Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said he would defend funding for a new middle school in his home state of Kentucky after it was selected as one of the military projects the Trump administration will delay in order to fund border wall construction.

Secretary of Defense Matt Esper announced on Tuesday the list of projects impacted by the funding move, which would shift a little less than $1.8 billion from projects in 23 states and three US territories. The middle school was slated to receive $62.6 million in February 2020.

"Senator McConnell recently talked to Secretary Esper regarding the issue and is committed to protecting funding for the Ft. Campbell Middle School project," a spokesman for McConnell said in a statement.

The school is to be located on Fort Campbell, which covers 105,000 acres partly in Tennessee and partly in Kentucky. The base is home to the Army's fifth largest military population, including members of the 101st Airborne Division, known as the "Screaming Eagles."

He won't face Trump and say taking the money for a purpose that it was not intended for is wrong and that Trump should come to Congress for money, Mitch will try to protect money to his state and protect his reelection effort and allow a Puerto Rico, which does not have a strong voice, to get screwed even harder.

35% of people are with Trump regardless of what he does. 10% don't seem to care or something. 55% see issues with Trump leading the country, but that 55% can't agree on the best alternative to Trump.

You can be sure Moscow Mitch will get his funding at Ft. Campbell because "getting funding" is what Moscow Mitch does for Ky. He'll get it by screwing some blue state base where the incumbent Dem is up in 2020. And the republican candidate will highlight how the Dem couldn't hold the funding.
