from congress based on dumps emergency declaration. There are many more powers contained in such a declaration. Including the suspension of our election. Are we there yet?

(26,697 posts)Congress delegated some powers to the executive (some that they shouldnt have) and every president takes advantage of them. The issue isnt taking the power of the purse... its spending unwisely.
And no... he cant suspend elections. Congress never delegated that - in large part because it isnt their power in the first place. States run elections.

The point here is that the choice to spend the money in the way he has is a bad decision... but it isn't unconstitutional. Congress could remove his authority to do it... but they gave him the authority.

Which isn't going to happen. SCOTUS slapped it down with a presumption that the suing group didn't even have standing.
