Bianca Andreescu just became the first Canadian to win the US Open
She played a great match. I really wanted Serena to win #24 but her serve didn't work today. Still she fought back from 1-5 to 5-7.
Congrats Canucks! You earned this one.

(268,978 posts)I was rooting for Serena but have to give the kid her due. As we age we take longer to recover and coming from behind is much harder.

Bianca is a very, very serious talent.

I wanted Serena to win, too, but Bianca showed a lot of grit.
I'm happy for Bianca and Canada.

(5,275 posts)Venus is and has been nice win or lose. Serena lost me years ago when she went after that tiny official who called a foot fault on her. She went from denying she did it to even if she had the official cant call that late in the match. Then last year taking from Osakas win by not letting go of a call she didnt like.
She has been a terrific player no doubt but you wonder if shes won her last major. Youth is always served, and Andreescu is not the only top young woman player on the way up. Bencic and a couple others are coming on hard too.
