People don't believe him. All over twitter "He's lying."

This is where we are. The President of The United States of America makes an announcement and the response it that he is a liar, made it up to detract from the Alabama craziness, made it up to make himself look important and presidential, and that there is no way it is true.

The American people have concluded that the words the president speaks can not be trusted.

How can we go on as a nation?

being used to support his private businesses through hotel rooms and purchases of aviation fuel at the struggling airport near his Scottish hotel are beyond my comprehension. I simply cannot wait to hear what Moscow Mitch and Leningrad Lyndsey have to say when they are questioned about this. All our Democratic candidates need to start calling him out constantly for the outright lawlessness on display for all to see.

and Hillary had won the electoral college, there would have been Articles of Impeachment drawn and passed by, oh....let's say...Memorial Day 2017, at the latest, with a Senate trial concluding by about Halloween. Followed closely by a year of Rethugs screaming bloody murder about the "Treasonous Democrats" that wouldn't remove the "corrupt" President. The hypocrisy is blinding.

a cabal of right-wing think tank officers who use a secretive communications setup to pass on talking points and policy directives that are coordinated with an office in the White House. Could be through a secure email system.

Heritage Foundation and American Enterprise Institute would be at the top of the list, along with Koch's Cato Institute and AFP. These think tanks are the brains of the Republican Party.

This is not a new idea. It was leaked during W's time that White House staff received directives via email every day from Heritage, and those talking points and policy ideas were almost like clockwork also parroted on right-wing talk radio and Faux News.

Don't know how they do it but it's almost a certainty. There's no way in hell Trump's staff comes up with all this madness and cruelty.

Imagine if we were in a country, back in a time when there was a dictator or party in control and the only information was controlled media like radio and newspapers. The only subversive information available about what was true and false would have been clandestine pamphlets and word of mouth and maybe resistance movements.

If that were the case, this game the current American dictator is playing would have been a piece of cake. The only commentary and counterpoint to the party line would have been guerilla news sources functioning in great peril and subject to infiltration and cointel.

Now, there is the more direct Twitter feed that can be used to bypass traditional media and journalists inquires. However, on the other hand, there is also the gamut of information and the feedback that pushes back. Even with the overwhelming variety of sources, some questionable and others valid, there is still a means to verify information and provide factual reporting.

Well, at least for now. It seems that, with enough abuse of power in the Executive Branch, the means to oppose it could be a target and in jeopardy.

Everyone wants to blame the media for being easily distracted, but we're their customers. The giving us what we're demanding.

The great majority of DU threads on the Greatest Page at any time are about Trump's latest tweet, latest ridiculous statement, etc. The top Greatest Page thread 2 days ago was a bunch of memes.

If we, presumably the more politically astute of the country, are more interested in memes of President Obama in sunglasses and Drumpf as an inflatable baby then the big picture of what he is ultimately doing to this country, then how can we expect the media to serve us anything different?
